The episode of Top 5 with Brittany Broski, where Shane and Ryan were discussing eating habits and brought up Steven’s eating habits too. Shane said something along the lines of Steven ‘driving our company into bankruptcy’ (because Steven wants to eat fancy food every day)…that moment caught me off guard because of how candid and how passionate Shane said it. He said it with his chest. I am sure he was joking but I am sure there was some truth in the joke. With all that has happened, I think that comment makes a lot of more sense now.

Just by watching Steven's segments you get the answer, wanting AND TRAVELING first class to other countries to eat a fancy stake, putting gold leafes on everyting he cooks, also his Tesla (mentioning that he needs a second one), him buying fancy takeouts every day etc. He is living the best live, adding more people to work for them (25 persons for a weekly video???), his dad is dean in a university, he never struggled with money and wants more and he doesn't care if he needs to take Ryan and Shane down to get it.

@karlifdalkxipqnahpifkx1107 idky ppl dont understand that. Watcher Entertainment is a company. They created it to give them creative and budgetary freedom to do high quality unscripted videos. They have said it since the very first making watcher video. This avenue was what allowed them to do it. They wanted to bring on board all the talented individuals they met along the way and create a top tier company. But that means they have to make money. They have to make enough to sustain their staff, production cost, and overheard and make it financially worth the headache for them. Annnddd they have investors. I think once they realized how fickle YT and advertisers are, and that they had to create videos to fit the algorithm and make them marketable to advertisers, you become dependent upon them for survival. I think they started looking for ways out in other methods that gave them freedom and creative control back w.o the fickleness. I wasnt the least bit mad. I immediately understood why and what they were doing. They've said it from the beginning. The level of what this has all become is crazy to me. No one is gonna be dumb enough to be vulnerable after what they’ve done. They screwed up and they knew that they screwed up and backtracked. It’s actually nice to see because we’re so used to people doubling down on their terrible decisions and just going forward with it. Them backtracking is somewhat of a sign that they at least cared enough to do so, and it’s going to be a process to gain the trust back, but with due time it will happen if they don’t do something like this again. Forgive and forget, as the saying goes but not too fast and not too soon.

Genuine question, does anyone watch Watcher for Steven? I feel like most of us only watch for Shane and Ryan, but then this whole situation feels very much driven by Steven since he’s the CEO and seemed like the main expert on the change as even in the original video Shane and Ryan kept looking to him like he was the one in charge. I wonder if Shane and Ryan would be better off on their own or at least without Stephen?

I don’t really care about the apology tbh. They overtired and overproduced. Period. They expanded their channel beyond their own means. They rehired Andrew and another guy recently. If they are struggling with money why did they hire them? If they’re struggling with money why does Steven Lim drive a Tesla? Why does Shane’s wife have expensive bags she shows off on social media? Surely you don’t need those things to live life. Their apology completely ignores what people were saying. The fans don’t care that the content is TV quality. That’s not what the fans ever truly wanted the most. They want to make the content that THEY want the make. Not the content that the fans truly care about. And they expect us to foot the bill

No matter what it seems like none of yall wouldve been happy for the simple fact that they wanted to make extra money,, as this is a business after all, which no one is forcing you to pay or support. If they hadnt apologized the reaction would be "if they just apologized it would be okay!!" But when they do apologize its fake and insincere. Well yeah, they didnt do anything wrong besides wanting to make more money for their BUSINESS and now theyre being cancled, id be annoyed as hell too. Also since they created the channel they should absolutely do what THEY want to do. And its up to you if you want to watch it or not, but youre not entitled to force a stranger to make the content you personally want them to make, they arent here for you. There here to grow a business. You dont pay them, youtube does and yet yall act like you sign their checks. Just like a fast food place sometimes has to increase prices when their product increases in price, that doesnt mean theyre greedy or bad people, that means they need to see a profit in order to stay in business, so when views go down they made the choice to ask people to pay to see their content. You do not have to. This isnt a hobby anymore this is a career and they obviously have bills, families and staff to pay. Come down to earth a little.

They are also focused on things like high production value, etc. Things that nobody asked for or cares about. Regardless of whether or not you want to do it, you need to figure out if the money you are spending is actually getting you any return on your investment.
