Hello hannah, I started watching you videos before I started my foundation year as a mature student studying engineering. your videos cemeted in me confidence to take the plunge and apply for uni so thanks for the content. I can imagine that your quite busy but I would love to see some videos on some of the projects/modules/assignments/etc youve been working on. (graphical content would be welcomed!)

Physics is a really relentless degree subject to study. Everyone I know who studied it burnt out at one point or another (or several times). As you alluded to, the best bit is being able to apply your skills and spending more time on projects. That keeps getting better after graduation, whatever you choose to do. You might be interested to know that one of my friends went into the NHS medical physics graduate scheme and now works on calibrating and maintaining radiotherapy machines in hospitals, as well as planning doses, which is computational and theoretical as well as practical and helpful.

All my friends, no matter how much of a hard time they had at undergrad, have flourished by finding places to apply their skills. And a thing to remember is that what might be a "below average" or "mediocre" skills in a physics setting, can be absolute superpowers in other situations where you aren't surrounded by people with similar skillsets.

@@lmackenzie89 Thanks Lewis, as ever a thoughtful and uplifting response! I've got a few friends who went into clinical science but I don't think that's quite for me. But it is FAB to discover just how many areas a physics degree can be applied.

Haha! For whatever reason I always feel like I have very little to say. But it will be nice to look back on these one day I hope!

Hi Hannah. Great to hear how you're progressing! I've just finished year one physics part-time at UoN. I wonder if you could give me any advice on how to prep for the year two Classical Fields module? I've been looking through the opening chapters of Griffith's Intro to Electrodynamics and the material looks formidable compared to the coverage of electricity and magnetism in Newton to Einstein. In retrospect, what do you think would have made the biggest difference in helping you with the classical fields module? Any pointers would be amazing.

My summer internship in a nanomagnetism lab has been canceled as well due to the pandemic 😔 On the flip side I will have more time to learn something useful during that time before the fall semester starts.

I'm currently the CEO of avoiding exams and planning on doing random bits of coding this summer!
