The reason I loved Russian nationals so much was because of how accessible the competition was. I’ve been back to watch the competition multiple times. Posting the competition on KZfaq is great for the skaters, fans, and for figure skating in general. I agree completely. It’s makes no sense for us figure skating to not post someone’s program, while posting Nathan Chen’s lunch. Those lunch videos don’t build a fan base while posting a program does. Sinnerman could have become viral just like river dance did 6 years ago. River dance built Jason a fan base. It’s so wasteful. Will us figure skating ever learn how to support their skaters?

I am a teacher, and when my students request a meeting on Google Meet for extra help, I am shocked when the parent shows up for the meeting too! What should be a meeting for a student to get extra help takes a totally different turn!! Glad you dad is on the mend!

Soooo true about posting Nationals. I normally watch all of juniors and seniors, all the way through start to finish (and some of novice and below). This year there was almost nothing available for me to watch so I was like "Oh well, guess I won't bother this year." Can't tell you how many times I've searched for "Sinnerman".....

So much in this episode. Hoping for a quick recovery for your Dad, Dave. Jonathan, I HATE peacock. I found it helpful to go in a week before, go to sports, and find the upcoming live comps. I open every one if them and add them to my watch list. LOVED War and Peace.

Dave, thanks for bringing up the speed issue! I think it’s is an issue with some of the senior US ladies as well. Both Tennell, Liu, and others looked pretty slow last week. It is a stark contrast to the way most of the Russian ladies fly across the ice and into their jumps!

It is easier to watch TSL vs the actual competitions. Personally I’m fine with that bc this show got me into figure skating🤷‍♂️🥰 WhErE ArE tHE tIMEsTAmPS 🤦‍♂️🤡

OMG Peacock is the worst with searching. I was so frustrated during Nationals. You would think they could fix the issue. I feel this frustration so much. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

I’m with Jonathan-Hate Peacock and the difficulty in finding competitions. I end up waiting until it’s within a few days and then scroll through live and upcoming sports and they’re in all sorts of whacked up orders when you save them to watch.

On Peacock, you can find the figure skating section if you go to Sports and scroll way down. That's how I usually find it.

Dave, USFS needs to invest resources into the jr pairs! That 1st group was so hard to watch. Dreadful costumes, packaging, basic skating skills and those poor boys trying to lift the girls-ugh! The 2nd group had some decent to good pair elements but the single skating jumps need soooo much work! It's the curse of the pairs...poor jumping ability!

Guys pls adjust the sounds in your videos. I always need to raise the volume to hear dave's talk, his voice sounds kinda...muted. On the other hand, Jonathan's volume is too high, but at least I can hear every word of his clearly. So basically, I keep raising and decreasing the volume all throughout the video. Jonathan, I only find skating in Peacock by going to the "Sports" tab and page down until you see the skating ribbon. That's the "fastest" way. Searching on the main page didn't work for me.

Unfortunately, only just got to watch this. On Mia Kalin, she actually came and skated at my rink for a week. She was amazing. She was trying quad toe and triple axel! She's incredibly talented. I hope she can keep her jumps as she gets older, because she was a lovely skater!

I watched a bit of US Junior Nationals, and yeah, the list of the names of the skaters were often repeated. Silly errors, really. Don't know who is behind doing this, but come on, USFS! Hope all will be well with you and your family, Dave. I've yet to watch all the juniors' competitions. LOL, talk about breaking the 4th wall! Jonathan, I feel your pain. I think I typed "figure skating" into the search bar to find US Nationals. If that doesn't work for you, then just do it old-school: go down the various sports channels to find "Figure Skating" and you'll find all the US Nationals competitions there. I agree with you and Dave about NBC and Peacock. Jason's Sinnerman program was excellent, more so than Nathan's even. I don't get why NBC/Peacock aren't doing more to promote the most popular, well-loved skaters that will garner them more FS views. Worlds happening? Dunno. But I appreciate you guys discussing the issue concerning vaccinations and the fate of the Olympics. Rich countries like the US will get their vaccinations a lot faster than poorer countries. Do athletes have more value than the common blue-collar worker? A senior citizen? Smacks of elitism. Might as well just have countries do their own domestic competitions/Team events to at least get their athletes to train. As for Russia's Team Event thingie...interesting. Looks like business as usual in Russia. Tiger parenting? No thanks! Maybe some parents can coach (i.e. Matteo Rizzo's dad) their kids, but not all parents make good coaches. There's a reason why Eteri Tutberidze doesn't coach her own daughter. Not everyone can do it.

I'm curious to see how the Australian Open tennis tournament turns out. From what I've read, locals in Japan and Australia are not finding International competitions during this time to be of any net benefit...and who can blame them? Why should their health be risked just so entertainment conglomerates can have products to sell? Yes, we have vaccines coming, but we also have a virus which is mutating into even more contagious forms. It'll be interesting to see what Sweden decides.

Now NBC sports network is being canceled so probably won’t be any live skating either. Olympics should just give 3 spots to all countries who were in the top 12 of last 2 worlds. If NFL can hold super spreader events then so should figure skating be allowed 😂😂.

I did not understand how this 2 teams competition would work, and what the capitans will do exactly. They'll just 'mentor' apparently, which I don't understand the point of?? I expected them to be involved in the skating competition itself somehow, by doing a programme. I know they're not in best shape for jumping but I still expected a programme from both of them, maybe like an 'easier' one where they do one or 2 jumps. But I'm disappointed cause that's not gonna happen, but still not surprised. I guess I had high hopes. Like dave said, I mean at least let us get an exhibition

Isabeau won't make a splash at the senior level. Her jump quality is too set in and it'll be too hard to change. Kanon Smith has a much better chance of doing well at the senior level. Her technique is solid and she looks like she skates faster already.

If you think Worlds don’t matter if Olympics are cancelled, you are delusional. One Worlds were already cancelled, and it’s the biggest competition outside Olympics. And there is Aliona, Sasha and Anna who may not have even have Worlds? This is crazier than any of gymnasts not going because of 1980/1984 boycotts. To be so self-righteous and to wish for than to happen, to ruin athletes lives....I don’t know what to say.

I loved the recent BBC version of War and Peace! It was so overlooked by the critics and the awards ceremonies. I was never able to read the book until I saw the TV version. Now I have read it twice. Lily James was a perfect Natasha and Paul Dano deserved every award and got none.
