Always good information. Will knows dogs, I have been working with my GSD and the better he gets the more he looks to me for that guidance he is talking about which makes it easier to train and then keeps snowballing. I finally got him to fetch instead of keep away. Thanks for all the help. Lately I cant wait to take him for a walk because it is fun for me too.

Top trainer, the dogs are so chilled out. My puppy is so much better on the loose lead, I've never had problems with the lead with previous dogs but this one has been a nightmare, but the loose lead is great, she just pootles along and sniffs around now she's 9 months old, glad I found this channel.

Feeding your dog by hand (as payment for good behavior) is a total game changer. Within a few days you’ll basically throw his/her food bowl away, as you will almost never use it again after seeing the results of hand feeding.

I had a Shetland Sheepdog back in the 1990's that loved to play fetch. She would play the game for literally hours on end. In fact my older brother once took her hiking up Mt. Washington here in New Hampshire (USA), an 8 hour hike, and she still played fetch for 2 hours when she got home. She had incredible energy. She was also very smart, even for a sheltie.

I am getting a GSD pup in 8 weeks (they are about to hatch any day now). I have an 11 year old lab collie mix, she was my first dog and I made a lot of mistakes with her, but she forgives me and I've learned a lot. She even saved me and my 6 months old son from a charging bull moose once.😶 In preparation for my GSD pup I've been reading books and binge watching your videos. Love the real life examples here of socializing by introducing a new location with sights and smells, working on relationship and self control on loose lead walking, and burning energy playing fetch. I find myself unsure during walks if I should let him take the full length of the leash to explore and sniff as he wants as long as he doesn't pull. I usually flip back and forth between heel and break to help train falling into position for heel but also allowing him ample breaks (more than 50% of the walk actually) to explore, smell, mark, grab a stick to chew on a loose leash but with the leash fully available for him to use. Do you think he should be in heel for the entire morning walk or am I misunderstanding that?

Hi Will, we love your videos and technics ♥ We have one major problem with our 3 months old puppy Pomeranian. We have open top fence (2metres by 1 meter) poddy pad and cushing for him. We play in house twice morning and evening to spend energy. %80 of time he pees on poddy pad (we reward every time) but almost every day he pees & poops on his cushing too. If we dont see him poop, he is eating it too. We use enzyme smell removal or changing the cushing with new one but he keeps doing it. He is very lovely and attached to us but he is very spoiled. We think that Peeing & pooping on cushing is not punishment move, it's not that he doesn't know it's just he doesn't care. He doesn't even smell before doing it. He also doesn't care for pee smell, most of the time he sleeps on poddy pad. We are cleaning him, removing all the smells but he is not picky. What can you suggest us? is there any way to teach him being meticulous about cleaning and peeing? Thank you

I am not sure if you said "law course" for a sighthound. My little deerhound lurcher lives fetch and frisbee, but I am always looking for more options to keep play time fresh, I'm pretty sure you didn't say law course.. 😅 or if so.. what? Wills videos and Fenrir are incredible, my big bud is incredibly smart and obedient despite being sometimes stubborn, but persistent repetition has worked out his stubbornness, and I exhaust his energy physically most days and mentally other days. He is a charming big man and I am lucky to have him in my life, I am constantly getting compliments on how well he is trained, and I did it myself with Fenrir training information and Wills videos! ☺️

@lindenpeters2601
@lindenpeters2601 Жыл бұрын
Puppies need to be fed 3 to 4 times a day. You don't have to do this, but it is a good idea to grab a handful of their kibble before each meal and do a short 5-minute training. Mine learned loose leash walking as a puppy, by just following me around the house for a bit before meals, and she'd get rewarded with kibble for walking with me and looking at me.

The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". If you can, strengthen your obedience and scent work then look for IPO/IGP/Shutzund Clubs in your area. Boerbols are farm dogs so they were bred for just about anything. As working dogs and large dog, high level obedience is a must, scent work drains energy like no other and as dog bred to protect, IGP is a great trajectory as it focuses on all three. 😊

Do you have advise on adult dog being too hyper with toddler? My dog is sweet, loves to play, but unfortunately way too hyper. He could play gently with a toddler for awhile, but once he gets excited he starts jumping around and unfortunately sometimes towards the toddler. His claws scratches the kid, or bump on the kid making the kid fall. And once the kid falls down, the dog panics and goes to protect mode and tries to shield the kid, again unfortunately with the dogs own body which further frightens the kid. Sigh...can't get the dog to calm down.

Sounds like you should have thought about that before you got the dog. We would never have considered having a dog until the kids were much older. Sadly, it is a combination that cannot understand each other. Toddlers and dogs are often not a good mix. If the child gets injured, inevitably, the dog will get the blame, when in reality it is just being a dog. My dog is a well trained obedient WCS but I would never, ever have got her if we’d had a toddler around. She meets toddlers out on walks and she is really calm and gentle, but I always watch her like a hawk.
