Willy Taveras was a lightning-fast outfielder for an NL Champion Rockies team. Why don't we remember him better?

It's crazy how bad he was that season outside of the stolen bases. With 538 Plate Appearances and an OPS+ of 55, he Mathis'd that season. He had 0.0 WAR, and the stolen bases were the only reason he wasn't well below replacement level. He contributed -27 runs of value with his bat, and -3 runs of value in the field. His +12 baserunning runs were the only reason he didn't have negative WAR.

I met him, and he signed a coupl cards for me. Dexter Fowler was trying to get him to talk cause he was so quiet, but he was still a nice guy. I think he just wasn't comfortable speaking English, cause I never heard him say anything to the fans in line in English. You are correct he was an incredible base stealer.

You are correct he was very quite. Key word was, we are good golf buddies and now he cuts jokes, hits the golf ball a mile and a great family man. He is genuinely a great guy. He has made Houston his home.

I really appreciate you taking time to give the Rockies some of the respect they have earned. It hasn’t always been easy to be a fan in Colorado. There is a tendency here to be fans of championships instead of teams and to often the Rockies have to sit with the Nuggets on that bench while the fans forget there are better sports than Football.

A couple of other note worthy moments for Willy. He had the only run in one of the games 2007 World Series. He stole 3rd base literally walked over to the base. Plus, he threw out Astro’s Craig Biggio, when Biggio hit his 3000 base hit and tried to stretch it into a double. And on top of that he’s a heck of a nice guy and great friend.

Vid Suggestion!!! Could you do a vid concerning the relationship between the MLBPA and the Owners? As fans, I think we don't always appreciate the intricacies and politics that happen between those two bodies and simplify it as two different groups being greedy. I'm sure greed is deeply involved but I it's also a lot more involved and complicated than that.

Love what you're doing on this channel. Tip tho: if you refer to something happening "yesterday," or what the Rockies are like "today" your video is only accurate for one day and ages poorly after that. Its a nitpick but meant to be constructive. If you neutralize the tense of your language--as in refer to things in a more vaguely past tense, or just generally current--the content will retain its freshness longer.

It's a shame that baseball today dissuades players from stealing bases. It's good to see some guys still do it regularly. I stopped watching baseball because it's so boring. Pitcher pitches, usually one of 4 results... home run, fly ball, strikeout, walk. Today's strategy is... don't get thrown out stealing a base in case the next guy up hits a home run. There is no 'creating' runs any more. No 'smallball'. It all started with the DH. Get rid of DH, and kill the live ball. Let's get some excitement back into baseball. HR's are boring when there are so many of them.
