Strategic queen blunder to make Simp blunder the video, good job 100 rated player.
@kenthos68768 ай бұрын
Not only they moved the knight for seemingly no reason, they also blundered it at the same time. Yet for this challenge, it was a brilliant move.
@zat124523 күн бұрын
The player perceives a threat of Qxb2 and Qxa1. He moved the knight with intent on guarding the rook with Nb3. Poor guy didn’t notice the pawn, though.

Instead of taking that last bishop, you should have given a check with your knight, forcing the king deeper into controlling the center.

It could be argued that his king did NOT control the e4 square at 3:41, since it couldn't ever move there because of your knight on f6

Yea thats what I was thinking. If it results in losing the King then the piece doesnt control the square, like a pinned Knight doesnt control anything.
@feelshowdy8 ай бұрын
I really like this avoiding starting the challenge, instead of avoiding opening the challenge.
@codetaku8 ай бұрын
The challenge was "controls" rather than "has access to", and since your knight was guarding e4, their king didn't actually "control" that square. So your challenge was fine.

How do you define control? Because I define it as "prevent enemy from putting a piece/pawn there by threatening to capture it"
@347Jimmy8 ай бұрын
@@arifezwan8893 by that definition, would they be in equal control? Both knight and king are threatening it, but only the knight has the choice to move there One could look at how moving to capture the knight would make the king more vulnerable, but that's far beyond the bounds of e4 I'd interpret it as equal or lesser control for Simp, but that's me interpreting your definition What's your call on it?

The move was not exactly out of nowhere. The player perceived a threat of Qxb2 and Qxa1, losing the rook and probably the knight later. He moved the knight with intent on guarding the rook with Nb3. But yeah there’s a pawn guarding that. Poor guy didn’t see that or hoped you wouldn’t since that’s all he felt he could do.

I dont think the king is controlling d4. It cant actually move to or capture on d4 because of the c5 pawn. With e4 even though the knight on f6 also prevents the king from moving into it, that knight itself cant move to e4 without being taken by the king so the king still partly controls it. But with a king there, nothing prevents black from moving a piece into that d4 square knowing the king can do nothing. Sadly the knight controls both d4 and e5 so the challenge gets ruined regardless
