My Dad & Grandad built something like this outside near the barn, back in 1930's. We eventually roofed the whole area when I was a kid in the 1960's. I'm 65 now, and it's all still there. Everything, from building boats, to the giant 4' x 5' cast iron bowl over a Stone fireplace for prepping the meat, making soap etc., and more is done in that area all three seasons. I KNOW they didn't have heavy equipment when they sunk those logs! THAT'S a huge bonus!

My only thought ever about it was, "does Mrs W make him wash his feet a lot throughout the day or is he never going inside the house?" As a kid I remember that the summer of 1989 I didn't wear shoes the entire time. My mom made me wash my feet a lot other than that it was fine.

Brother they are one and the same. Even the best boots in the world coupled with a few sock changes get's oppressive after 10-12 hours in the wet ground cause moisture can't really respirate through the leather when the outside is coated in mud. Do that all work week and you will understand why we spend every other second barefoot : p.

I've been watching your channel since you had around 40k subscribers. I went to the 1 million subscriber meet and greet and had the opportunity of meeting you and your family. I've learned more from this channel than i ever learned in school. Working on cars, equipment, the outdoors, family. The one aspect i never took away from your channel was the Faith aspect. Last year, i gave my life to Christ and it's been the most wonderful, inspiring, life changing experience. Now, coming back to your channel, i can see exactly how Christ has been the foundation of your family and life. And without me knowing it, your love and passion for the Lord was teaching me all these years! I'm 25b (we share the same birthday, April 1st) years old now and i need and appreciate your videos more than ever! Keep up the great work with you and your family, keep spreading the Gospel. I'll be glad to tell my children and grand children one day that i learned so much of my life skills from this channel and be able to pass it down to them! God bless you and your family!

OSHA says to never get in a hole deeper than 5 feet without some type of support for the walls or stepped grades going up, however, you’re missing the most important detail. Wranglerstar was holding a camera and filming while he did it, so the “cameraman never dies” rule applies in this case.

You have inspired me in so many ways. Today, I cut down a large birch that recently died. I cut off a four foot piece at the bottom to turn into a work table. I have two questions. 1) On the bottom, there is a hole where it has started to decay. It is about 5% of the surface area and goes ten inches deep. Can I just fill that hole with epoxy and stop the rot or is this piece doomed? Second, after cutting the bark from the sides, does it need linseed oil everywhere or only on the ends? I ask because more than once you have said they dry from the ends. Thank you for teaching us so much. My axe, my aluminum axe sheath, my belt from Grizzly, my saw technique are all thanks to you.

I'll admit, I scratched my head at the whole barefoot thing in the beginning. Then, I went barefoot for awhile each day. I've realized, that if a person is in tune with themselves and their surroundings, they'll notice a difference when going barefoot. This is a "don't knock it till ya try it" sorta thing I think. Then again, with as brain dead as a lot of folks are nowadays with their fluoride minds, they may never get it.

my dad got stung on the bottom of the foot while walking in our backyard by a yellowjacket. Ill never forget him cursing a storm, that shit musta hurt fierce. I've never stepped foot in the grass barefoot since. I live at the edge of the woods, we got all manner of insects in our yard, including wolf spiders and the occasional Brown Recluse. Should I get over that fear and embrace walking barefoot around the yard or am I wise to be careful? I wanna try it but I'll never forget learning that lesson.

@@TheIrishMugFug Assuming this is a serious question, I'll give a serious answer. Grounding can be done easily without risk, with as little as 10 or 15 minutes a day. The only thing that is needed, is no sort of insulation between you and the ground. So, no plastic, wood, or rubber, or the like. Even standing on concrete, given that it doesn't have a poly tarp or something under it, will still ground you, from what I've researched. You don't even have to move around if you don't want. Pick a nice piece of grass, or dirt where you can see what's happening and stand in that for awhile each day. Sit in a chair and let your bare feet sit in the dirt and read a book. Think outside the box and don't let one instance dictate your life. There's way bigger risks in this world than going barefoot for 15 minutes a day.

I write specifications for earthwork projects and always specify backfill to be placed and compacted in 12” lifts with vibratory plates, except for clay backfill in 6” lifts with a sheepsfoot roller, or 4-ft lifts when compacted by a barefoot man using a steel probing rod.

I've read quite a bit about smithing, but I have never seen this technique. It's really quite brilliant and I will be borrowing it for my own outdoor forge 👍

I walk miles on concert in boots 5+ days a week and I find wearing minimalist shoes with just a thin sole to protect the feet to be very relaxing. But I've also injured my feet working in gardens and in the forest because I was either bare foot or wearing the wrong kind of foot wear. There is a time and place for different kinds of foot wear. Also the Savior did a lot of work in just sandals.

At 9 minutes "You don't get to pound on something like that every day." Should have been the title of the video. New to the channel and love it.

Seeing the Hogue rake at the end reminded me that I have bought several of their tools based on your recommendations. Appreciate the knowledge sharing!

Barefoot, yes, yes - grew up that way. I had the shock of my life when I went to Canada, I met some teenagers that have NEVER walked on grass bare foot in their lives. It stunned me. They could not use a bicycle pump to pump their tires themselves - felt like the twilight zone
