I agree Harri; one of the most impressive, perfect songs ever made. Neil Young is a legend, from the 69’s to the 90’s and beyond. This is one of his finest; a lullaby for grown ups

I only recently discovered this Neil Young masterpiece and I cannot get enough of it. Listen to it AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. It is so beautiful and calming. Only wish my parents could be alive to slow dance to this sing under a harvest moon. This and Four Strong Winds, Canada's unofficial national anthem. PS- YOU HAVE GOT TO LISTEN TO YOUNG'S version of that song.

In 1970, after returning from Vietnam, I married my high school sweetheart! At the time we could only afford a very simple wedding and spend one night at Motel 6. To celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary we booked a Caribbean cruise. Unbeknown to us, our four children surprise us with a honeymoon package. After the Capt. renews our vows we dance the night away with Neil Young and Harvest Moon. To say that we had the time of our life for 6 beautiful romantic nights is the understatement of the century!

I used to rock my oldest daughter to sleep to this song when she was a baby (almost 30 now). It would just be me and her in the living room rocking gently and swaying till she went to sleep. So this song holds such a special place in my heart. Thanks Hari for this one.

It is the gentle strumming and cadence of the guitar, and Neil's voice puts you on a cloud, gazing down from 50,000 feet. With the harvest moon shining down on you.

I was so lucky to see him in person several times back in the late 60s and thru the 70s. In the beginning when he was with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. To watch him transition from the wild child to the mellow father of grunge. Loved him throughout all those years to the present. Seeing him so comfortable in his skin . Content knowing he’s done everything the way he wanted .

What a wonderful love song. 'It is a tribute to his wife Pegi Young, and the two are dancing in a bar in the music video... Young met future husband Neil Young in 1974 when she was working as a waitress at a diner near his ranch, a story he tells in the 1992 song "Unknown Legend".' - Wikipedia

I absolutely agree with you about the sheer sweetness of this song, but I thInk that most people wouldn't describe Neil Young's voice as a traditionally sweet one. He gives everything in his performance, the pure magic and mystery of heartfelt music eh ?

His sweetest, most sentimental song. I only wish I could see my parents dance together under a harvest moon to this gorgeous tune.
