Additional note: The difficulty of the "level 1" after level 256 will be the same as level 21-255.

Fun Fact: The game "PacMan 256" for mobile was inspired on this stage but you die by the glitch if you touch it including it's 3D and the glitch chases you into endless PacMan levels.

Level 1 after Level 256 is LITERALLY what Super Mario Bros. did in the game after beating Bowser. Power Pellets don't work anymore like goombas were changed to beetles.

This might happen because the game is an 8-bit game and it can handle 8 bit integer witch is 256

Yes, that is right. The game does not know how to handle the 256 value, so it goes back to 0, which is level 1

i think its because the game stores the level counter in one byte one byte can hold numbers 1 - 256

Yes and no haha. The level counter in the game's memory goes back to 0, which makes it load the first level again

Because the game's code can't handle values bigger than 255. So it does not know what to do, and basically start over again at level 1
