for the people who don’t know, this is a Lithium battery. it has these two little “chambers” with different chemicals to make the battery work but sometimes they mix causing gasses to be released and if it gets puffy enough it can and will explode and you can’t put the fire out because it’s a chemical fire. running your battery dead frequently also causes a higher chance of this happening so if your phone at like 10% plug it in.

Ooooh! This reminds me of the time that I decided to check on a really REALLY old phone I had. It was a pink samsung smartphone that came with those mini "pencils" to use for the touch-screen that is about the size of my palm. I once randomly decided to look for it because I remembered that the phone came with a sonic game (could only play 5 levels because I had to pay to download the entire game) and an Assasin's Creed 2D platform game that I was never able to pass the 15th level when I was 12. When I found it, it wouldn't turn on. Which surprised me a little since I turned it off once I got a new phone a year later and it was working well. I decided to check if the battery is on correctly to which: 1. When I loosened the back part a little it went flying. 2. I was greeted by a battery as thick as the phone. Needless to say I took it out. I hope one day I'll find a matching battery and hopefully find that assassin's creed game. It's been 7 years and I still think about it.

I remember my mom's phone had that issue but it was a bit bigger than that my mom was litterally so casual with it. Only when it could not fit in her pocket than she got the battery replaced.

The "I'm a professional idiot" vibe with me so much.... I've been known to chip concrete walls with 90lb jackhammers and do most of my own gunsmithing and pretty much do everything sketchy myself. I actually currently have a phone sitting in a 55 gallon drum outside with a puffy battery because I'm scared to put it in a vehicle to recycle it, debating just popping it with an airgun.
