Hey guys and welcome to my first real attempt at a “vlog” style video!
I make a lot of content discussing how to “train like Batman.” How to train strength, speed, agility, brain function etc. all at once. But what does that actually look like?
Many people assume I’m this super-disciplined fitness fanatic. They say it’s easy for me, because I can train all day every day.
Not so!
Not only am I decided NOT all that disciplined, I also have quite a time deficit most weeks. Running the KZfaq channel while being a hands-on Dad takes a lot of time. Trying to juggle that with having a social life, navigating around injuries, keeping the house sort of clean, playing video games, getting quality time with the wife, working around the weather, etc etc. is all part of the challenge.
I do this for fun. And I try to always remember that. I train to live - I don’t live to train.
This vlog covers most of April and shares the majority of my training during that time. I’ve been focussing on some calisthenics, while also building up my bench press, and continuing to rehabilitate my back. Progress was fairly good, but there were a few duds in there, not to mention some missed sessions. It’s all part of the process!
Let me know what you think of this kind of content guys. Was it useful/entertaining? Or did it come off as a load of nonsense? If you enjoyed it, I’ll be sure to make more like this in future!

I was a single dad from my son being an infant. Had my weights, chin up bar in our apartment living room. He'd bounce in his jumper and jam along with the music as I lifted. Never missed a beat. And neither did I!

As a mom of three little ones, I have found it useful to do parts of a workout between chores. For instance, bring the laundry downstairs, do 15 kettlebell swings. I warm up walking around picking things up off the floor Anyone else do this? I also get my cardio in while watching anime in my "downtime". This was a nice relatable slice of your life. Thanks for sharing.

@@SammytheStampede It's nice hearing someone else doing something similar, albeit with video games. And yeah, I like anime. I'm a bit of an oddball. I also play swordfight with my kids with MMA foam sticks and listen to science podcasts while doing the dishes too. Since this channel covered anime inspired workouts before, I wasn't expecting an audience member watching anime to be strange, though.

@@nadroyvotsirh9431 i mean it takes at least 9 months to replace 1 kid, and then you have to grow him all over again. If you live in India and give birth to 15 children, then fine. But as things going in west right now, with 1-2 children tops, it's a better strategy to not neglect the child and balance it with training as much as possible. This is helpful for those of us trying to cultivate a mentality that is resilient to plan disruption. In real life the game isn't: "How well can you stick to a plan?" It's actually: "How well get you recover from inevitable disruptions?" Difference is subtle but important. Tyson said it well with the classic, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

It’s nice to see the more human side of all this. Sometimes it’s easy to start comparing and doubting your commitment. Then you hear and see that other folks are also juggling the same life issues. Parenting is definitely a huge sacrifice, but like you said it’s also one of the most rewarding things ever. Nothing replaces seeing your children happy and healthy.

Big fan of the videos you normally make because, to simply put it, they're just very relatable. I even really enjoy the videos with Grant and Liam. I grew up doing martial arts and have always been involved with fitness and health. These kind of vlogs go a bit further then the relatable though, and more towards empathetic. It deepens that appreciation and admiration that was already there. Like you, and probably the major demographic that follow you, I'm balancing work, being a parent, being a husband, being a good friend and son, along with my other personal passions. I wouldn't change a thing though because every aspect of it, even the days that are rough and tough, do truly bring me a since joy, fulfillment and accomplishment. I hope you continue share your life like this with us, even it's just a few times a year. Thanks, Adam!

I appreciate this vlog and would like to see more. I've only just started putting content out there; it gives me a whole new appreciation for what you do and the production quality. Whenever I lose confidence in my handstand, spending more time against a wall really helps. Chest to wall handstands with toes very lightly touching the wall (if at all) and concentrating on pushing tall may be helpful. I'm not a competitive gymnast so I won't be losing sleep over getting my handstand perfectly straight, I'm happy enough balancing upside down with a reasonable level of consistency and control.

Vlogs like these are very relatable. Training and improving life with surroundings and equipment that we all have alongside Family Ties that bind. Every other fitness vlogger is too busy filming highlight reels of what they eat in Restuarants on apparant life-long holidays somewhere whilst hitting an impossibly massive gym. Not everyone can or wants to relate to that. Insights here on everyday issues, working out alongsize being a Top Dad, and hanging out in coffee shops. Yes.👍👍👍

Good content, love the way you make training as playful and adaptable as possible to keep it both engaging and realistic for yourself. I have two small kids and when I’ve finally finished work for the day or for the weekend, I feel I can’t shirk an iota of parenting/house management responsibilities to indulge my hobbies, because my wife is losing her mind by that point with the kids, understandably! So I’ve shifted my exercise regimen to high frequency, doing whatever I can whenever I can, even if it’s very short and sweet and random and incomplete. I’ve been amazed by how effective it is. What seems like an incredibly compromised approach, both under- or over-training depending how you look at it, now seems to me like exactly what I should have been doing all along, going back over 20 years to my student days. I actually think I’d have got bigger and stronger, and would 100% have had a healthier body and a healthier balance in life, relationships etc etc.
