As someone who actually suffers from schizophrenia it's very hard to put off the hallucinations both audible and visual. If her schizophrenia went undiagnosed for a very long time it's more than likely she believed this for a long time. It depends on what age she started showing signs. I thought it was normal that you couldn't see things the way they were but then again I have the soul to not hurt people. Some people don't some people have uncontrollable anger and it makes the effects worse.
