I have old PDP glue in points. They have screw in weights. I have a full set of weights. They are ok for tuning but once you pick a weight I think a one piece point is better than having a stack of weights on the back of the point. My best 3D round was shot with Blackhawk Vapor 23 speeds. Lightest stiffest 23 arrow there was but they are brittle. Shot with a Martin Slayer, Magnum limb and Nitrous X cams. Speed was 323 fps. 70lbs, holding 21lbs. 7” brace. I’ve shot just as many good 3D rounds with 2312s, 4” feathers, and a 60lb indoor target bow or FITA outdoor target setup with X10s. The key to IBO is really just picking your spot and picking your yardage. The more I swap setups the more I find it’s just best to use whatever you’re already drilling Xs with and just shoot that instead of obsessing over the perfect setup for the shoot.

I love you guys!! I could relate to Josh in a previous episode when he described his elk that got away. I have a somewhat similar story. I know Tim's a golfer. How about Josh? I used to imagine while playing in a golf league that someone would video the round with maybe 3 or 4 cameras. Have you ever had a round of golf videoed Tim? I would watch that too. I'm hunting white tails in New Hampshire. Keep up the good work.

could take a twister spinner and put random things you gotta do like hold the bow at full draw for 45 seconds before shooting, and every target the highest score spins the board for everyone. could have each channel come up with stuff to put on the board.

I know for sure that Gold tip has it where you can thread in extra weights in their glue in points… I think black eagle and Easton do as well…. It’s best to use the adjustable glue in points to figure out when point weight you bow likes the most and then buy solid points for competition… because over time (unless you glue the weights in) the screw in weights can come slightly loose and cause some unnecessary wobble… plus smith brothers and competition archer products have a tighter tolerance in relation to their weights

altra arrows has glue in points with a threaded weight system at least in the larger diameters (.246, 23 and 27) but not for 4mm. It probably has to do with the thickness of the shank making it hard, if not impossible, to machine threads

Lost four arrows worth of insert/collar/field tips in the 50-yard bale at SVA on a 40 degree day using hot melt. That was after a year shooting them into the same bales minus the collars. The collar was the issue, for me. Switched to epoxy to hopefully combat the issue. Definitely nervous to shoot them into the bales again, though. That was an expensive day at the range.

That iron will hot glue is formerly branded as “Kimshaw-low temp hot melt” i believe its spelled that way. I got some few years back from 3 rivers archery and it looks exactly like the iron will stuff and stays a little pliable so it wont pull out and break off or become as brittle yet still works in very cold or hot weather. As well as lower melting point so it doesnt get components or carbon nearly as hot, so they say.

Just thinking.. wouldn’t you have to sight in the highest impact arrow at 20 and roll the sight to “20” for your second arrow. Which would loose “some” not much travel on the sight? If the other way you wouldn’t have a home base for 20 with the lighter arrow.

One of the best 3d arrows out there are the black eagle ps23. Theres a reason that they are so common. I use superdrive 23s and 25's myself. My superdrive 23s at 375 spine are around 6.8 GPI IIRC.... I run 120 up front and they are plenty fast. The 25s are pretty light GPI as well. That said, if I was shooting a TAC I would want something like a 4-5mm arrow though. But for k-50 3d shooting, fatter arrows pick up points. Probably over 90% of good 3d shooters out there are using 23-27's so take that as you will. Its rare you will see a pro running a skinny arrow in a 50 yard max shoot. And to Josh's statement, glue-in points are available with screw in weight systems. Its pretty common..... The cool melt blue glue is great in my experience. Its basically just hot glue just a low temp version.
