Mokuti and timascus are the same thing. Timascus is just a brand name for the material by Alpha Knife Supply. Mokume means grain in Japanese, mokume gane means wood grain metal, and they achieve that grain using various base metals as you said. But when they make it out of different grades of ti they call it mokuti. All that gold you were seeing was just titanium.

CHAD NICHOLS IS THE EXEPTION: when it comes to exotic steels as he’s able to create many different patterns repeatedly which is incredible! If you’re going to get any kind of steal, and there’s an option for Chad Nichols, GET IT!

With Damascus they usually use a carbon steel that patinas easily and a stainless that doesn't so then when it's folded, twisted, drilled or whatever else they do to it to make the pattern then when it's dipped in ferric chloride it only patinas the carbon so then you see the pattern. With this stuff, I assume you see the pattern because the different materials etch or anodize differently. Cool stuff.

Yep... it sure is somewhat similar to a Scotty Cameron milled putter face or Ping PLD. Those two Putters are a little bit nicer/tighter/deeper milled faces but you're right it's a very similar milling pattern.

Believe the Brian brown is heat treated incorrectly. To much heat, so it blew through those full purples into yellows etc. could have been on purpose idk.

Depends on the use case. Most, really well. But if its a handle material or clip it can get scuffed. Color usually stays fresh though

Man, that's one nice and rather expensive collection you got sitting there. a lot of nice shit that I certainly wouldn't mind owning. idk how many time I've tried getting a timascus Goodskrew screwdriver just to see them all sold out. I've pretty much forgotten about them for past yr or so till seeing this video. Lmfao. I'm actually trying to learn how to make timascus and zircu-ti but there's not really much on the web I can find about it. 😪. lol
