I painted along with this demo to some success, but the way those background building light areas glow even while mixing in the yellow ochre and alizarin crimson texture is amazing. My buildings quickly turned to mud. The ultramarine in the far right main building radiates the light of the sky. It's just amazing.

such a masterful demonstration of how to paint with watercolours the right way. You have that boldness of attack while adding the most deft touches that bring the picture together. It's all there, life, light, haze, water and warmth. With due respect, i found the photo uninspiring, but you've created something way beyond what the camera captured, and this is indeed the hallmark of a great painter. Had to sub :-)

Well all I can say is -----how wonderful you are ! Hope to live long enough to come close to your expertise but along the way, the journey...is what matters most to me and I am just beginning to 'get it' after a very long time. I don't know if you have written a book? Or if you have another video that tells what mop brush (and others) you prefer to use. II am using mostly Raphael sable. I'd love to have a mop brush - in your hands, its a magic wand ! Still, I'd love to know who makes it...if you can ever find the time to tell me. All your demos are just, wonder-full. I use the same brush's you use but recently I ordered a W&N squirrel hair #4 mop from Jacksons. It's real squirrel and was a third less expensive that My Raphael synthetic mop. The point is incredible.

Hi Tim, curious about the white area on the left hand side. My brain says this is unfinished and not sure what it is. Can you comment on why it was left unpainted? I like the way you do the building walls. I especially find it helpful when you discuss the reference photo and what you change in the painting. I also noted how you draw loose. Even before starting the painting you are practicing your loose style. I tend to draw much more realistic. Happy New Year.
