How can the Single Plane Swing help you? Ask Natalie Purvis, a 13-year-old golfer who is has moved from 43rd to 10th in Oklahoma junior golf rankings using the Single Plane Golf swing in less than one year.
In this video I help Natalie find identify the great things in her swing and find the most important aspects of her Single Plane Swing to continue to becoming the best golfer in the State of Oklahoma.
About the Single Plane Golf Swing.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

Your lesson with Natalie Purvis was a bull's-eye for me. While coaching her, you were correcting the very flaws in my own swing. Brilliant. I'm a visual learner. Have never SEEN a more definitive explanation of why golf used to hurt my lower back, courtesy of a ragged two-plane swing after primitive weight training for football a half-century ago. I will replay this winter. Natalie showed a lot of poise, especially for a 13-year-old. Just saying. At her age, the very glimpse of a camera would send me into hiding. Perhaps other single-planers will join me in wishing her success, yes?

I attended a 3 day GG school in Edmond back in late April 2021 and we got to watch Natalie practice with her driver. The single plane adjustments were just starting to take hold and, I can attest to you now, she was "puring" dang near every shot straight down the middle. It was fun to watch. The Single Plane isn't just some pie in the sky untested theory jive, but is the real deal. Go Natalie!!!

Todd if you could please do another separate video on why some of us are hitting these fades (albeit still pretty good shots) and how we can eradicate it that would be much appreciated! I know you've touched on it in this video but if you could further elaborate/clarify that would be awesome! Many Thanks. Tim

Great video! The toughest part of the transition for me (and still is) is the flexed lead knee. In the conventional swing to gain speed it’s a stiff front leg. In Natalie’s first few swings she has a stiff front leg. Looking forward to the next lessons for her to see how she achieves that part of the transition.

Wow great video Todd, I have the same exact issues when I do the swing. Thanks for all the tips. Amazing how quickly you can see everything in her swing. Love to see her progression. It’s helpful to see her adjusting to your information because your swing is so locked in it’s not as easy to make corrections when I watch you, but it’s still great to watch you work.

People have to remember Todd and Moe started young. That makes all the difference in the world. People starting this swing in their 50’s and 60’s are going to have a difficult time picking this up. I’ve been trying this off and on for 5 years and it’s still Frisia’s hell. I’ve had several surgeries in my lifetime and my body is fairly stiff all the time even though I stretch a lot. Pelvic thrust is my big issue and I don’t think I can ever stop it and that’s why I will occasionally go back to conventional. I sent a video in and all they did was direct me to another video that one of their 20 year old instructors were teaching. Of course they make it look easy. It’s very hard to teach an older dog new tricks. It’s not from lack of trying. My body aches all the time from beating balls and trying to do it right. And yes P Gowan the back foot down can be difficult. Almost feels like you are going to throw your back out.

@@jeffg5989 I never felt it was physically difficult to do any part of the swing. Just used a conventional swing for so long was hard to break some habits. I think if you find it physically hard to make any move in the swing just try to relax slow the swing down. Even shorten it. It doesn't take much to move that little ball. Let the club's do the work.

Todd, This is an interesting demonstration, but it took me forever to get my lag heel up ... now, you are teaching to keep it down. Isn’t something lost in not getting the body to move over the lead foot in your follow through by getting your back heel up and having most all your weight forward? I do like keeping the wrists straight and in line at address, however.
@ToddGravesGolf
@ToddGravesGolf 2 жыл бұрын
I have always taught to keep the trail heel down. I also teach to get the weight into the lead leg (lead foot) in the follow through. Nothing is lost by keeping the back heel down when the weight is forward.

She has really taken on the partial swing through. I really noticed it this past weekend. She out drives the girls she plays with constantly by 30 yards, with less effort. She shot 78,76 and 77 over the three day weekend. The first two in competition and last as a practice round for next week. She was working on a new grip that she got from one of the other instructors at Graves. It’s fun to watch her play.

She is really working on improving the SP swing. Her drives were all but a few down the middle. Pitches are much improved and putting too. The 36 holes this weekend were double bogey free. That was a first for her. Proud Grandpa.
