Simple swing thoughts for your Single Plane Golf swing starts with a great address that signals the brain to execute the perfect shot. This video discusses how, if you have a great address position, that you can "pull the trigger" without thinking making golf automatic.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

Watching the footage of Moe talking about the thoughts is his head was so moving and in knowing this guy should have been introduced to the golfing world earlier, years earlier! I never heard of Moe till 2019 and am 68 years of age! So why was that Todd? Yet he taught you all he new, maybe he knew the rest of the golfing world did not want to change the common 2/3 plane swing of today, so he taught this young man (you)? I take my hat off too you for keeping Moe's name alive, as if it wasn't for you a lot of us golfers out here would never be trying to mimic Moe's swing! Moe mentioned in that interview about players hitting their target with the least effort used in a golf swing would create good scoring! It is hard not to swing the club hard when you know one has 255 yards to reach the green! But after many weeks in getting this less effort into my head really does pay dividends! Thanks Moe! and ofcourse you Todd!

Todd is right on. Hitting a golf ball is an athletic endeavor...not a cognitive one. If anyone is curios about the science behind this, read Sian Beilock's book CHOKE. All the research has been done. The best players in any sport actually DISENGAGE their pre-frontal cortex (the analytical part of the brain.) The more THINKING you attempt as you hit the ball, the more interference you will experience in your brain - and typically, the poorer you will perform. Go for FEEL... in the Go Zone...just like Todd shows. A few years ago I asked Todd about thinking while playing and he said that he likes to "play empty." Love that!

Moe really was a genius, I think the PGA knew his swing would put a lot of so called golf pro teachers out of business, his swing was simplistic and any one can enjoy golf with this swing,.much respect to Todd for continuing to exemplify Moe and his greatness. .

From years of watching and trying the Moe swing I've basically used two different swing thoughts, "Right foot down" and "Left shoulder - Right shoulder". They both create DEAD STRAIGHT ball flights with the driver for me.

Thank you Todd for answering my question.... This answered allot of questions I had in regards to the mental aspect of it. This will help many single plane golf swingers. Since some Single Plane Swingers can get so wrap up into positions that they start thinking about positions while they swing which slowly becomes self defeating... It can become a bad habit... Very Informative video Thank you

M. Lymann Here are some more “Moe-isms” from the Moe biography The Feeling of Greatness - The Moe Norman Story “Top players play automatic golf.” “Golf is just a walk in the park.” “I only see what I want to see. Winners see winning; losers see losing. You are what you think you are.” “You have to love every shot because they all teach you.” “Be technique oriented, not distance oriented.” “Believing in your mental image will make you a master.” “I never got mad at myself. Getting mad only makes your swing worse.” “Every shot I hit-just poetry in motion.” “Get out of your own way.” members.singleplaneacademy.com/the-feeling-of-greatness-book-the-moe-norman-story/ We have entire 2-day “playing schools” dedicated to helping our school alumni take their games to the next level by adopting Moe’s “Alert Attitude of Indifference” on the course moenormangolf.com/schools/2-day-playing-school/

I have not swung golf clubs for long (not even a year)yet i have corrected a nasty slice in days and smashed out past 300 with a old Wilson Sam Snead. I think 3 things I have done lots of in my life have allowed me to do that martial arts, fly fishing, and shooting. I have dropped tiny midges inside a 4 inch circle, broken wood and bricks, and pulled 1 inch groups at over 1000 yards and all of them required not being focused on me but just being the observer of what was happening during execution. Just like Todd says plan then execute with out thought in the way. So in fly fishing I knew the cast method I wanted and I executed it and then observed the fly line leader and fly proceed to target. In martial arts I knew the strike method based on board or brick position then executed and just observed with out emotion or thought the outcome of said strike. The same holds true for shooting. So what Todd is talking about is there is no emotion or thought when he swings his best there is just him observing the ball being it the perfect position of his swing path and you get that not from your swing really but from initial setup/address. You could really just work on consistency of swing with out a ball even ever being present. There are no boards or bricks when one practices in martial arts and all movements are first practiced ever so slowly with gradual build up in speed while maintaining consistency. What Todd is really teaching is Golf Martial Art. BTW Todd, When you swing any club on your best strikes is it like your watching the swing in slow motion with blur or that you took thousands of time lapse photos and placed then all together when you observe the path of the club? Also I am 50 years old have a herniated disk and torn rotatory cuff and bicep and single plane swing is the only swing that I can do all day and not feel any pain afterwards. I was even doing the swing with minimal pain with 2 broken ribs. That says something for the body mechanics simplicity of the single plane swing.

Todd, if you would, define "thinking about my golf swing". I usually have a setup key, a bracing key or a feeling I'm looking for in the back swing. I don't know what "thinking about my golf swing" means. Thanks!

Thinking is related to practice. I think about things when I practice. I video tape my thoughts (feedback) to see if they match the model. When I play, I don't think anymore and just play and use what I practiced. Make sense?

Hi Todd. Get Video. I seem to be stronger on my left arm which is making me hit the ground before the ball and other time's topping it. When I hit the ball should both hands be neutral. Help please.

Trying to understand the plane for each club. Correct me if I am wrong but as your club gets shorter and you stand closer to the ball, the plane line will get steeper and flatter with the driver. All of your swing products (I own the feeling of greatness club, swing position and ball alignment trainers) are based off a 6 iron and I find myself trying to hit the same “window” at the top with every club in my bag. BTW I also have the Excalibur and Throw a Hole . All excellent products. Playing at a 3.7 with a 0 as my next goal. Thanks in advance!

Yes, "plane" is based on the club "plane" since the goal is to start and return the club to impact. The club has a design so in essence, you are returning the club back to its design.
