I'm Victor, and I really like to cook. With my "In the Kitchen" series, I'm going to be showcasing some of my favorite things I grew up on at home.
We're taking a quick break from Collection Two and wanted to release this episode for the Winter holiday season.
In this episode, we're back in my parents' kitchen, and we'll be making Toisan style savory hong yuan (tangyuan) together, something my family has made every year during the Winter Solstice Festival as a Chinese tradition. I sit down with my parents and have some conversations about why we make this every year and some of their memories making it as kids too.
Did You Eat Yet? is a short video series by Victor, highlighting food and the stories that come from food.
Collection One: Where I'm From highlights Victor’s roots: A first generation Chinese American, born in Oakland, and raised around the entire East Bay. We highlight traditional Chinese recipes, hear stories from friends and family, explore the Bay Area, and share the most quintessential Oakland taco tour ever captured.

As an old school Taishanese I couldn't stand the rice balls but loved the goodies. Something about the ooohy-goooey texture that threw me off.
