Here we go again with the absolute BEST KTM help we could ever have thanks to Tokyo Offroad! I've been riding for over four decades and have never seen better videos or products than what Tokyo Offroad offers. I just wish they offered even more goodness. Thank you Tokyo!

This just happened to my '22 TX 300i. I called all the KTM shops and not only is the part on backorder - they make you buy the whole hose kit including the thermostat, around $200. I ordered this at 5pm yesterday and as of this morning UPS is telling me it has already passed customs and will be on my doorstep by tomorrow afternoon. I'll comment again after I get it installed, but couldn't wait to comment on how amazed I am by Tokyo Offroad's customer service and speed. Amazing!

Thanks for your order and hope you receive the hose kit quickly. One question I'm often asked is how to remove the inner original hose clamp? It needs to be cut off. If you have a high speed rotary disc cut off tool (Eg Dremel) that works well, or a hack saw blade can be used.

@@TokyoOffroad Wow, thanks so much for the great service. I ended up removing the inner clamp with a little hacksaw. The new hose fit perfectly. I rode for 6+ hours on Saturday and it worked perfectly. I'm super happy that Tokyo Offroad carries this product! I'll probably keep another one in my spare parts box, just in case.

Well, I went down on the right side again and punctured the hose... again. I ordered a new one from Tokyo Offroad on Saturday and it got here on Tuesday. Installed it and went for a quick test ride - all is great. This time it came with the little plastic guard and a zip tie. I installed that per the video and I think that will really help to protect the hose. Thanks again for the quick shipping and the great instructional video. This time around it was much easier to install as I've had practice, and the old one is easier to get off with the hose clamps. Honestly, I should have ordered two to keep one in my pack... I had to push the bike out of the mountains for about 4.5 miles and call the wife to come pick me up on a forest service road. ⭐

When I installed the Tokyo hose I also found it necessary to loosen the gear clamp at the lower right rad hose and rotate the hose a little to get that hoses off the front of the cylinder / cylinder head area (hose was rubbing). Also I did the same with the hose connection at the front top of the cyclinder. On my bike it was originally pulling the thermostat assembly rearward and this kept the lower left rad hose too close the engine. I now have approximatley 4 - 5 mm clearance at the lower left hose and maybe 6 mm clearance from the right rad hose to the cylinder head gasket area. Patience was required but the end result and peace of mind was worth the work. I feel safer now riding distances from my vehicle. I have owned many motorcycles over the years. This KTM has rquired more work to make it "Rideable" than any other bike I ever owned. Hope this is not a glimps into other KTM issues. So far I love the bike both the colours and operations. Also replaced that stupid plastic TPS, Throttle Position Sensor protective cover with a CNC aluminum one as some people have had them break when the bike falls over (operator error, LOL). Similar for the stupid fuel tank black plastic outlet.

You should use the hose clamps with the smooth stamped threads, they do not cut into the silicone hose. Food for thought,
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 3 жыл бұрын
I did look at using the same clamps as OEM KTM hose clamps (GEMI brand), but the narrow band width clamp appears to be specially made for KTM and only available directly from KTM (Part number 10001020000 HOSE CLAMP GEMI 18-29). I've tested the stainless steel hose clamps included in the kit and not experienced any cutting into the hose issues. As such, so long as the clamps are not overtightened, I think they are OK.

I had a failure. Replaced with Samco hoses with thermostat delete. Riding in the UK is not too cold but rarely hot. My question is, what is normal operating coolant temp? And personally what temp would you deem OK to start riding hard at? Thanks.

@johnchafin3817
@johnchafin3817 3 жыл бұрын
For the thermostat delete what do you consider cold conditions?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 3 жыл бұрын
Difficult to answer because there are many variables. But certainly if you ride in freezing conditions (below 0 degC) I wouldn't recommend it. With the thermostat delete you'll find that in any open and flat, or downhill riding the engine temp will drop low in cold weather conditions. Also cold start warm up will take much longer as the coolant constantly circulates even when the engine is cold. Gnarly, steep and slow sections I wouldn't expect a significant difference between with, or without the thermostat delete.

Do you have a procedure for safely flushing coolant system? Just distilled water or more. I've got some brown sludge and want to clean the system.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could flush the system using distilled water, or if it really dirty a coolant flush may work better. Either way you'll want to drain the dirty coolant, refill with your flush, ride the bike a little to bring it up to temp, let it cool down and drain the flush. You could repeat the flush if necessary. Then finally refill with clean coolant and be sure to use what's recommended for your bike. Also it's not a good idea to mix different coolants as this may cause sludge.

Is this not a problem on the lower right side as well?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of hose punctures on the right side. Of course it is possible, but it doesn't seem to be a common failure. However, if lots of people are experiencing right side failures too I could offer a right side hose kit too. I think the big difference is that on the left side the thermostat t-junction is there and it keeps the lower hose pushed down making it susceptible to pinch punctures. On the right side the hose is long and can move up more easily during a crash, making it less likely to get pinched. I do attach some plastic to the right side too though to help ensure I don't have an issue.
