Another great livestream. I love the Showa era vibe of this neighborhood, as well as the ties of the shrine to Sumo and the monument to Ino Tadataka, the man who surveyed so much of Japan - on foot! Monzen Nakacho is now on my list of places to visit when I make it back to Japan.

Good afternoon John. I am always amazed how you can bring the Japanese culture over in your videos and I love how excited you are when you explore new things and show them to us. I really enjoy and love your videos. As you said, it is relaxing and in a beautiful nature. Please, stay like you are, never change. You can make the world a better place. If I were a producer, or would have connections to somebody....you would have your own TV show to bring the Japanese culture to the world. It is so much fun to watch your stream and I love that you can still get excited like a little child in a candy store. Do not get me wrong. Its not a critic, you are an inspiration for anyone, I learned during the past week so much and love to see more. I'm like a sponge, give me more....lol. You and your wife are amazing and I hope you both are staying well and safe. God bless you both. ❤

This was such a great stream. Thanks for this rare look at a unknown historic area. You should definitely do a walk through at night in the bar district to show the atmosphere of the izakayas. I bet it would look like a Ozu movie.

Nice temple and street food. That statue about the guy who mapped Japan is Inō Tadataka. I love maps and learning more about the history of mapping. Mos Burger? They've done partnerships with Mister Donut, which started in the US but due to its rival Dunkin Donuts' (owned by the other brother), it moved out and became popular in Asia

You are speaking to me, John. This is the place I want to see. Plus, the countryside looks appealing. I don't see much from the KZfaq channels about Japanese art and crafts, traditional or modern. The Japanese culture has much appreciation for beautifully elegant design.

Ohmygoodness!!! I just booked a hotel exactly in this area for next year March17-22. I booked even without knowing the place. I am super glad that you and Kanae had this video - can’t believe I found this! Btw, I have some questions though as I have some concerns on my trip (with my senior citizen mother): 1. Will be arriving in Haneda airport at 5AM - Any recommended place to rest (particularly for my mom)? 2. Wondering if restaurants would already be open around 7am in the area? Thank you!

John, have you ever met David Hoffmann of David'sBeenHere in Japan? He has a long series of Japanese street food covered some areas that you've been through in your series. But yours are a lot more broader and deeper into the cultures of Japan. On the other hand, his works are mainly about food (90%). He eats and drinks a lot in his shows... By the way, I'm from San Francisco, California. I really like your series. Keep on the good works. God bless!

"getting food and just trying it" -- I agree! I am fortunate enough to have no allergies, so I can eat anything put in front of me. Of course, I do have preferences... My first day in Japan I ordered two random things off a menu (mainly because they were two of the only things I could pronounce) - okonomiyaki and takoyaki. For most people, excellent choices! Me? Even the scent of seafood makes me nauseous. :,) The chef was within view, so I ate as much as I could without making myself ill, feigned fullness, and asked to take the rest to my room. LOL At the time, I hadn't yet realized how much seafood of various kinds is in most Japanese food. I learned quickly! Good times. XD
