Thats all correct you said in the video!The 50w though sounds tighter and more focused.And also don't let the size fools you. Recently i tried my evh stealth 50w in rehearsal on a 4x12 Peavey classic cab and mannn it was a totally different beast! Compared to my home setup with a 2x12 cab...i mean on the 4x12 cab the massiveness was so big that was uncontrollable, i must turn down the bass and the resonance noobs because the sound was to big! It almost sounded like the 100w version and that was definitely a lesson for me and give a lot food for thought,the cab i think is very important to the sound for sure!

Yup, pretty much what I expected. You proved it with this comparison test. Both sounded great to me. The 100w does have more low-end.

I totally agree that the 100 watt sounds much more full with texture and aggression over the 50 watt. (Not to say the 50 watt sounds bad at all) It would be interesting to hear a well done capture of the evh100 stealth on the quad cortex or the Kemper. Thanks again!

I prefer the 50 watt by a mile….100 sounds deeper and a little more scooped,but the 50 watt has a bark in the mids that I like…..I had both,but I sold the 100…..Love the 50 watt version..

I like the 50 watt stealth since I play in drop A, drop G, and drop F.

do you recommend an attenuator (if so which) or do you think you can get kick ass tone with out one?

Man I've been so conflicted but the 50W sounds much tighter and I'm diggin it! I agree that larger power amps have a higher dynamic range w.r.t. the frequency response, but in this case the 50W sounds better in a little jam room. If someone were to be using the amp for live shows I'd definitely go with the 100W due to the path fading of the sound waves propogating toward an audience. It would also be true to find that perfect spot where you'd hear constructive rather than destructive interference. Lastly, I realize KZfaq attenuates the signal for "optimization" so we're not likely to hear what you hear. However, the 50W for my jam room/basement sounds heavenly. Comparable to walking in the house from work and hearing my wife with a few p*rn stars waiting on me to get home lolol. Again, maybe it's the YT algo, but I have to disagree with you here, the 100W sounds like it needs the OD, but the 50W sounds tight enough without it... 🤷‍♂

If you want the headroom get the 100 watt. If that is too loud get attenuator to drop the volume but get the gain of a cranked amp. Then unleash this 100 watt beast when you play live!

Another thing to note for the difference in tone due to output, is the different components on the circuit board, so they can let the higher voltage travel through. My rudimentary understanding due to my newly found hyper fixation. Lol. I'd take the 100, love that fuller tone. I don't like the higher frequencies on the 50.

Thehundred watt stealth has the best rhythm channel I’ve ever heard and the 50 W white head has a better lead channel than any of the other EVH amps, it would be worth it to somehow combine the two into one head.

Great comparison! I was trying to figure out which one to buy, 50 watt all the way. Own their own the 50 sounds better, the 100 sounds better boosted.

I think running the presence lower on the 50w is the way to go. I run it on 3-4 (regular 6L6) and it sounds much fuller and more balanced

Just curious, why didn’t you use the EVH 412 cab as I use one and it sounds amazing, great video and appreciate your perspective on amps and tones, cheers !

hi Jarrod 🤘 i notice that in your test you play tin stealth 100 w at 4 on the volume. I have a stealth 100w and a 4x12 cab and a volume of 1.5 I'm at 103 db... are you using an attenuator?

50W for sure! Tighter and more precise to my ear. I think the 100W would be more fun to play on its own because it sounds massive. But in a band context i usually dial lows back so not to clash with bass and the kick drum. Thanks for the great comparison!
