Tony Khan aired the CM Punk security footage of the fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In 2023 from London. CM Punk is now a WWE superstar once again, and Tony Khan airing this security footage is a huge own goal for both him and AEW as a whole.

CM Punk did not "trash" AEW and Tony Kahn. He said Tony was a nice guy but not a boss. He also said he felt it didn't get run like a real wrestling business. Didn't tear anyone down and didn't go much further than that. Watch the interview again

It's important to understand that CM Punk's comments about AEW and Tony Khan were not intended to "trash" or belittle the organization or its leadership. Rather, they were an expression of his personal perspective and experiences within the professional wrestling industry. When CM Punk referred to Tony Khan as a "nice guy but not a boss," he was likely drawing a distinction between Khan's amicable personality and the traditional image of a wrestling promoter. This doesn't necessarily imply a negative judgment of Khan's capabilities or performance as AEW's president. Instead, it suggests that Punk perceives a difference in leadership style compared to other wrestling promotions he has worked with. Furthermore, Punk's statement that AEW "didn't get run like a real wrestling business" could be interpreted in several ways. It might reflect his view that AEW operates differently from other wrestling companies, possibly due to its relatively recent establishment and unique approach to the industry. This doesn't mean that Punk believes AEW is inferior or unsuccessful, but rather that it has a distinct operational style. Punk's comments did not involve tearing anyone down or making derogatory remarks about individuals or the company. He simply shared his observations and feelings, which is a common practice in interviews. His comments should be seen as part of a broader conversation about the evolving landscape of professional wrestling, rather than an attempt to undermine AEW or its leadership. In conclusion, it's crucial to consider the context and intent behind CM Punk's words. His comments about AEW and Tony Khan were not meant to "trash" but to express his personal viewpoint based on his experiences and observations in the wrestling industry. As always, it's recommended to watch the full interview with Ariel Helwani for a more comprehensive understanding of Punk's perspective.

See, people put down Vince McMahon all the time. Yet Vince started out living in poverty in a trailer home with his mother and her abusive boyfriend, after Vince Snr abandoned them. Yet Vince McMahon went on to take WWE to be global, and even be on the stock exchange and made millions off his own bat, and no one gave him that money. Vince was treated no better than anyone else by Vince Snr and had to be ring crew and commentator. Vince earned his money (whether you like it or not). He's self-made. Unlike Tony Khan, who never had to work for anything.

Will Ospreay shouldn't have mentioned HHH and Bucks shouldn't have mentioned the footage CM Punk should never be named in AEW again kinda like how they've done Vince and/or Brock Lesnar They need to act like grown adults and not immature little bitches
@PJGAPOY27
@PJGAPOY27 3 ай бұрын
In the world of professional wrestling, it's not uncommon for performers and promoters to make references to other promotions or wrestlers. However, there's a fine line between friendly competition and unprofessional behavior. In the case of Tony Khan airing the CM Punk security, it's important to consider the context and the potential implications. CM Punk is a highly respected figure in the wrestling world, and his actions carry significant weight. If he were to continually mention other promotions or wrestlers in a negative light, it could potentially harm the image of AEW and the wrestling industry as a whole. Similarly, Will Ospreay's mention of HHH and The Young Bucks airing the ALL IN footage on TV could be seen as unnecessary provocations. While these actions might generate short-term buzz, they could also lead to long-term damage in terms of relationships within the industry and the perception of AEW among fans and peers. Moreover, the idea that CM Punk should never name Vince and/or Brock Lesnar in AEW again is a valid point. Continually referencing figures from other promotions can come across as petty and unprofessional. It's important for AEW to focus on its own talent and storylines, rather than constantly bringing up figures from other promotions. In conclusion, while competition and rivalry can be healthy and even beneficial in the wrestling industry, it's crucial for all involved to act with professionalism and respect. After all, the wrestling industry is a community, and actions that harm one part of the community can have negative effects on the whole. So, let's hope that all parties involved can act like grown adults and not resort to immature behavior.

Having AEW around as an alternative place for people to work is brilliant BUT even at his best Vince McMahon needed Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, Chris Kreski and Paul Heyman to help with creative and match planning whereas Tony treats AEW as a wrestling fan would rather than understanding the actual business. Why Tony doesn’t swallow his pride and go out and bring in Gabe Sapolsky and Scott D’Amore to co run a show each and have actual wrestling people help in running the show instead of being a massive mark and being best friends with wrestlers like a weak minded, thin skinned son of a billionaire who just happens to own a wrestling company

Been a supporter of AEW (I like ALL wrestling/promotions and have since the 80's - none of this toxic tribalism bs) and still am - but this was a bad and unnecessary move from Khan. While he hasn't been perfect and makes his mistakes, he finally gave some of his ignorant detractors legit material. If he wanted to retaliate against Punk, just concentrate on your own business and run a better product - all the components are there to do so. It's like having a toxic ex from a bad relationship - the best revenge against that toxic ex is to heal, move forward, and live a better life.....not show that you still think about that toxic ex and doing something that will only make that toxic ex (and others) laugh at you. Hopefully a lesson is learned here and this will be the end of it.

I am saying this with all love for AEW because the original All-In event along with the rise of AEW rekindled my love for professional wrestling, but by airing the CM Punk footage in the middle of a weak episode of Dynamite while your competition put on their best show was a HUGE misstep. I didn't even plan on watching the footage because in my eyes, what was the point? If anything, the video showed events happening so fast that it made all the stories about the altercation sound like overblown hyperbole. Even worse, TK looks like a colossal p*ssy "fearing for his safety" based on that evidence at hand. We couldn't see CM Phil going after Tony from that angle, but it occurred on that recording and like the altercation with Perry, it was over rather fast. I'm not even a Punk fan and I could see that this entire mess between Phil and The Elite & Perry was ALL Tony Khan's fault. He's the type of Boss that wants to be everyone's friend and they are the WORST type of employer to work for. I also believe that recent interview that set off these events with CM Phil was a calculated move by Phil himself. I think he knows that he lives rent free in TK and the Bucks heads and he knew he'd get this response. I have to give him credit, he played them like a fiddle as Khan may have damaged his company to WCW levels. Only time will tell.

Never gonna justify AEE doing this just like I don’t justify when WCW did it it’s counterintuitive to what you want but at the same time people celebrating and want this to be AEW’s downfall are just delusional

Tony Kahn and aew and the young bucks just exposed WWE HHH and Stephanie McMahon and CM punk in this infamous brawl in footage

I'll be less severe: the major point wasn't the footage (Punk's face was blurred and there was no sound), but what was before and after: it's a way to get more heat to the Bucks and (maybe) announce Jack Perry's future return at Dynasty.

I've not liked Tony Khan since he disrespected Swole who, to this day it's shown was only telling the truth. But I also don't like the way Punk is being washed off. And a lot of it has to do with pro-wrestling tribalism. People act like someone is so much better when they do the same schtick in WWE. Cody (I love him, so don't get it twisted), Jade (love her too, so again, don't get it twisted), and others. Suddenly, what you made fun of, you love. Now, again, I love my girl, Jade, but I've yet to see anything new in the ring that she wasn't doing in AEW (and at times better). But because she's in WWE, it's amazing. The point is, people act like Punk is only right and he had no fault (and isn't a full-blown narcissist) because he came back to WWE. Y'all just forget how he left WWE? And IF he leaves WWE controversially again and disparages them, what will you say then? The problem was both Tony (for being a fanboy and not a boss) and Punk (for being a narc). Let's not play like Punk was only right just because you don't like AEW. And, no, as someone who's been watching wrestling for decades and knows the difference, AEW is NOT a "minor league" promotion. I don't even like them anymore, but stop the b.s. Final note: I know what fans were doing online at the time this stuff popped off. They wanted that footage. And the got it. Now it was wrong to release it? Okay.

I dislikee CM Punk as a wrestler and have no desire to see some backstage drama bait. It just serves to ruin the mood. If you like him, you're mad about the attack. If you don't like him, you're upset you have to see his dumbass again.

Well, AEW tried to be WCW and they did it by burying their own company. And AEW was never going to overtake WWE. All these fans and media was really dumb enough to think that. When they stop worrying about WWE, do better with creative and stop doing those childish antics then their product will improve.

I still stand by my statement that Punk was in the wrong for attacking his co-workers. Perry is also in the wrong for calling out Punk & getting in his face. This footage doesn’t change my opinion about either man, nor did it get me excited for The Young Bucks vs. FTR. All it did was make Tony Khan look like a fool. He said this fight made him “fear for his life” but I’ve seen middle school fights that were more violent than this. All it did was it showed that Punk wasn’t lying. I hate CM Punk, but even I have to defend him here. He was telling the truth about the fight & TK was just salty about it.

It did what it was meant to do though. It got people talking about AEW. I've not watched AEW in about a year now, it is unwatchable in its current form and even I wanted to see this backstage footage. I mean, I didn't watch Dynamite, I watched it on KZfaq this evening, like a normal person😂.
