a big tip i think is never to aks a noob for tips. on that expencive thing the best way to get something good is to talk whit someone that now what he/she say. if not that can end more expencive that you think. a lot of seller they dont know what they say about the product. they just want to sell. if you want to know something go to a shop that is profesional on this thing.

Sayu Barreto agreed! I really like sewing message boards for reviews as well since you know it’s people who use them everyday and will be honest in what they say about each machine.

If you are lucky enough to have a local speciality store that sells machines, check them out! Ours will let you try them in the store, and the folks that wirk there are a fountain of knowledge. They also sell used machines. Most of the used machines are trade-ins from folks upgrading. Just one question about your machine, did it come with the cat? My machine came with nice accessories, but no cat. I'm bummed. ;)

wendy spiesman yes, fabric stores are such a good resource especially since everyone who works there likely loves sewing and has lots of experience with machines. And yes, given the speed she got in the box when I opened it she basically came with the machine 😹

Excellent video! Too bad I already bought a new sewing machine recently. This would have been most helpful. Now I need some instructions on how to actually use a sewing machine. It's a lot more complicated than I could have imagined. All these different kinds of stitches and accessories. 🤯Also, I love your chipmonk sweater! 🐿💕

Erstwhile_ jess it can get really overwhelming but to start off it’s not a bad idea just to ignore the complicated stuff and focus on the basic settings - they should get the job done. Check to see if the brand has a KZfaq channel. A lot of them have really nice ones that walk you through using your specific machine!

Also check your local fabric store for classes and resources. You could probably find a local quilting group that can lead you in the right direction. They tend to be friendly people who like to share skills and knowledge.

What brand of air do you get and where? I was going to try to get compressed air from staples or something but I’m not sure they’d have it,

Rossy kitty I got mine from an office supply store! They usually have them at places like Staples by the computer supplies!

so what sewing machine do you have for variety fabric , abit of heavy fabric once in awhile and good embroidery?

5:37 please DO NOT use compressed air on your sewing machine, it pushes the gunk deeper in the machine and can cause problems in the future that you wont be able to solve yourself
