Well well it's about time Spirit of the Law gets invited to Hidden Cup 4.

The promised comment! Italians got a change where their dock techonlogies are now -33% instead of -50%. This is a small nerf, but it doesn't change the power of the Italians, and they keep their spot. They did get a compensation in 33% cheaper university technologies as well, which also helps for water maps. Burgundians are an interesting one, as they can do economic upgrades one age earlier than other civilizations. With this you can do wood upgrades in dark age(probably on the way to Feudal) and even Gillnets in Feudal Age. They might have some use on hybrid maps where you can potentially fish safely or in teamgames on water maps, but otherwise they're not impressive on water. They lack Heavy Demos, Dry Dock and Shipwright. Middle of the tree kind of water civ. Sicilians have a team bonus where transport ships can carry 5 extra units and have +10 armor against anti-ship attacks. A lot more potential to come up with landing strategies with military units originating from your own islands with this one, and they do have a very strong tech tree, only missing Elite Cannon Galleon. With their tech Scrutage (each team member receives a one-time payment of 15 gold per military unit you own) they will be a useful teammate for gold demanding late games. Donjons+Seargant combos can make scary landings, and they even build Castles(and town centers) 100% faster, which can be super helpful in certain scenarios. Probably a contender for the 5-8th spot. Maybe even higher, or lower! Time will tell :)

This is a nice surprise. I remember you saying you see yourself as content creator first instead of e-sports competitor, so I’m glad you are pushing this to higher production values. A rather good and explanatory B-roll, loved it. With some nicer lighting for A-roll and this would be golden.

please made similar video to this! this is great reference with really interesting infographic, without actually making it too complex. I watched it without skipping because the explanation and video is greatly in sync and not boring. I also love little details and joke in between, and zoomed in video as we can see the details in each combat. Great work vipi!

Absolutely incredible video honestly, really nice balance between educational content and fun. Looking forward to seeing what else you do. I'd love to see a Top 5, or even Top 10 Team Game civs list, mainly for Arabia or other open maps. Might be a hard one to quantify though 11

Wonderful content Vip and best of luck with the branching out. Would love to see a pro talking for 10 minutes about how to micro - boers, deer lure, using a ram as a shield, sticking one unit out and micro-ing to attract fire, splits, quick walling etc. Props to you for all you do for the game.

I remember that game against Hera in Hidden Cup. It was a crazy one. If memory serves, your island had a slight wood advantage and Hera also missed an opportunity to hit your fish trap, giving you ultimately the edge. Great game!

Spanish cannon galleons were the ultimate water unit at LAN parties back in the mid to late 2000s! One teammate slings the other to create an armada and then destroy all enemy ships plus anything within range of the coast, which was nearly everything on team islands 😄

Interesting theory about how Dock placement affects the choice to open with Galleys or Fires. I can see how that works with Galleys being the faster unit with a bigger LoS and attack range, and so far-Docking has less of a momentum penalty for Galleys than Fires. I'll try it out.

Also a fun thing with Italians is that genoese crossbowmen do extra damage to ships, not the most usefull thing but it can be nice for defending your island

Great video viper, would love to see more. Tier lists apart, I wish you could cover the "meta" in some form of educational videos. Basically how x civ type may play out vs y. Cav vs cav, cav vs Archer, Archer vs cav, Archer vs Archer, infantry siege civs (civ). Hoping for some guidance on decision making. Elaboration of all the "it depends"... If this then that, is this (2) then that (2)...

It is so refreshing for a former unbeatable God (he's still good tho), inform how to attain God in AoE.
