I respect all of you guys. But you guys are forgetting grapling. At least y'all should train takedown defense. When it comes to a street fight ofc. I challenge many of my friends to a fight, and they are even skilled muay Thai boxers etc. But they simply can't do anything against ground game. They get tapped every time lol.

Very good video. I've been doing karate for over 40 years. I was told that the root of karate is kung fu, but what I've come to learn and to realize, is that not only is kung fu the root of karate, it's also the perfection of it.

Thanks for a very informative and engaging video Dan. Excellent work from you and all involved in performing the moves, shooting and editing. These are great moves, even for someone who is not going to take up Wing Chun but is studying another martial art and wants to add some tools for certain situations. The deception aspect of it is fascinating. Those Bill Gee finger strikes sneakily coming up and under into an attacker's face for example: great way to instantly break up his momentum, give you the space to apply another move and get away in a self defence situation.

Nice explanations. I whitness that twist of the forearm while waiting my turn in a karate tournament about 25 years ago. Attacker send a vertical downward kick to the head of the defender. The defender made a high block with his forearm with that twist at the exact right moment. That broke the tibia (shinbone) and the fibula of the attacker calling the end of that fight. I was impressed by that finesse of movement being a beginner at the time. That is a detail I will never forget.

Love it! The techniques are amazingly incorporated from animal movement of quick avoiding to instatntly hit. I like the fact of having to keep your posture solid and with quick move without moving the body along changing the course just in the end to give that extra power while keeping your balance unmoved. It really is about minimum move comparing to other disciplines with that end bite while keeping calm and confident at the base and being so fast in order to not leave a room (extra second for unnecesary swing) for the other person to have space to reach you. Great videos and great explanation. I am not a fighter only mentally but practiced gymnastics in teenage years and learned that somehow when you practice any move repetedly and very fast your last one before you loose energy is always the one you put most effort while applying free will without overthinking and attitude in last moment to do it. This one was always the best although does not always feels like it. Like a fast snake going for it but swiftly redirecting the power just as it bites. Animals are so pure and clever 👍🏻

Great reminder to punch straight in, not circles like speedbag. The relaxed fist can then contract at impact, extra acceleration, cool. In our school we do the straight punches but also turning punches, so like the jkd example, to really add power. Love your vids. The chop is great too, basically a straight angled attack with “snap” that drives through the target. We’ve tried it lightly on the neck and it hurts. Also the whole body shoots the force into the strike.

Dan Lok I’ve been studying wing chun for about 10 yrs, some of that time I didn’t go to class that much, or just went through the motions. In 2016 I finally completed the red sash level, still felt some uncertainty or ‘meh’. I then started a Krav Maga class in 2016 and it really opened my eyes to some different ideas and strategies, including some for when you fall or are knocked down. It was really good and I still practice some drills each week. I am not a natural athlete so some things may take me longer to learn, but everyone is different and I am making my skills better with time. I am not the best but a much better version of myself compared to when I started. Due to time, work, life constraints I stopped the Krav several months back. During the past year I am thinking more, watching concepts about Wing Chun, flow, boxing, Krav, etc, and seeking to move to the next level. I am only doing Wing Chun classes now, but seeking to incorporate additional things. Lately I feel more principles and techniques, not just because of mechanics but just, well, with the mind, heart, and intent, especially with my micro acceleration/ instant force/ snap / flow, if that makes sense. Sometimes ideas come into my head about situations, or a third person view, to help me think about new things or techniques (but not psychic, ha ha). I feel more on a path to improving now than before, but had I not tried a different style I don’t think I’d be growing as well. Here are some ideas about the video: 1. You learn by helping others learn. 2. Find enjoyment/fun in your training. 3. Forward intent in all strikes. 4. The head knowledge must advance to feel and proper action. 5. The body works as a unit; the wave of force flows from the ground up to the fist. 6. Slightly different punches can share similar principles. 7. Importance of relaxation, acceleration, and micro-acceleration/instant force. 8. Structure enhances power and force penetration. 9. Waist-stance power, yiu-ma, biu-ma. 10. The best strikes blend relaxation, rooting, acceleration, rotation, and snap/instant force. 11. Different martial arts can have common principles, features, and effectiveness. 12. Always keep learning. 😊🤜🤛 I would also like to learn more weapon defenses and drills and practice with them to build quality reactions and instincts

Thanks dude. Good stuff. I like the back of the wrist as well. It fits with the center line and can be done after a block with the same hand. It also attacks easily the neck, jaw, and temple.

@@boogeyman1016 you mean he was not a professional. Lots of expert martial artists are not "professional fighters". The Shaolin Fighting Monks will EASILY kick your ass using ancient, traditional Kung Fu, and very few of them have fought in professional MMA, since like Christian priests, Buddhist priests take a vow of poverty. Very few Marines have gone into MMA saying they use Marine Corps Martial Arts Program as their main system, yet I don't think you would want to fight a US Marine. The Israelis are known around the world as good fighters, but I don't think anyone has gone into MMA using Krav Maga as their main system. Just because it isn't used by MMA jockstraps doesn't mean it isn't effective.

I have one question that is bugging me why do we protect only our center line amd the sides or our legs because attacks could come from different angles
@MohammedUchiha
@MohammedUchiha 4 жыл бұрын
I guess when you're about to get hit from the sides then you just turn your body to that corresponding side and protect the center-line
@benjamindwarnock
@benjamindwarnock 4 жыл бұрын
Everything gets pushed to the sides... When u intercept any strike u remove the momentum and speed =power from it... You redirect its path by owning the center line... Even if u miss u still take 70% of the strikes impact power away from its intended target.
