I’m lucky that I knew since the moment I discovered top surgery that my nipples would not be making the journey with me. I’ve never wanted them pierced and I spent my whole nippled life dealing with them chafing, poking through every layer of fabric, and getting easily irritated due to my anatomy. I’m a year out from my surgery and I sometimes get phantom nipple pain/itch but zero regrets. I wish peace and acceptance to everyone going through this journey! Ps. Idk if this was intentional but I love the sound of your hangers gently chiming as you move. I like wearing dangly pieces and being a human windchime :)

I went full smooth and I'm happy with that result, but I do wish I could have pierced nipples. Part of my decision in going full smooth was that I was pierced for several years before top surgery but they never actually healed. Even if I did do grafts for the sole purpose of getting them pierced again, the likelihood of it working out was slim! I've had people suggest getting a surface piercing instead but I've had dermals and surface piercings in a much lower movement area of my chest that both rejected really quickly on me

Don’t have the time to watch the video right now but just wanted to share, not keeping my nipples was the BEST decision for my top surgery. It made the healing so much easier and it just makes it a blank canvas for any future tattoo projects I may want to get done. And if I REALLY wanted nipples again I’d just get medical tattoos but nipples have never been an important part of myself and I feel more myself than I ever have before and having that physical and mental weight taken off of me has been life changing

My nipple regret... I was born with 3 and I got the third removed when I was an insecure teenager :( Now I wish I kept it so I could show it off!! 😹

Full smooth here too, 15 years on I’ve only felt the pang once that I couldn’t get them pierced 👌🏻 it’s one of those decisions that if it’s not right for you you probably wouldn’t even contemplate it and if it feels right it is the right one.

i'm super happy that you posted this!!! i also got top surgery without nipples and heavily considered keeping them solely because i wanted to get them pierced, but i decided against it. i've actually been thinking about potential alternative methods if i got nipple tattoos, because i've seen a few pictures of people who got mastectomies (with implants) that got like... surface piercings or dermals to mimic nipple piercings over a tattoo, and i would be interested to hear if that's a reasonable option for people who get nipless top surgery :V

Im so happy that you figured out what you would like to do for your top surgery! I’ve decided the same many years ago to not have nipple grafts when I do eventually get top surgery. They cause me too much dysphoria since childhood, are a sensory overload for me, and overall, I just love the idea of what my chest will look like without nips. I’ve been seeing more and more people opt out of having nipple grafts for top surgery lately. I do think it’s good for people to weigh out their priorities and what is best for their anatomy. Personally I did keep my nipples. I did experience a lot of scarring around the edge of my areoles and I’m not sure if I can get them pierced anymore (I haven’t visited a piercer yet to see their opinion), but i don’t regret keeping them even despite the scarring. It was more important for me to have nipples than it was to achieve a specific aesthetic. But that’s just me. Everyone who is considering top surgery has to have this discussion like you said, and I’m glad you’re opening up this concept and idea for others to think about. Wish you luck with everything

i didn't keep mine either! best decision I made, and my doctor was super on board with it. if I miss them too much, I can just get them tattooed. plus, now there's room for a sick chest piece!!! good luck with surgery and healing!!!! I'm a month and a half out, fully medically cleared, and so hyped and I feel so confident now

The moment I found out that I did not. in fact have to have nipples, I decided that I would not be keeping them. They have no role in how I envision myself and honestly what I fear(ed) the most about top surgery is the healing process. The nipples always seemed like the worst part of it for something I would rather not have. I also want to get chest tattoos that show off/incorporate my scars into the design and nipples really clash with my self perspective and "the vision". I don't see this talked about or see images of it very often so this was reassuring and interesting. Thank you for sharing!

I wonder if in the future (I don't think it happens now?) people who don't want their nipples can donate them to people who need healthier ones (or post-mastectomy kind of thing). And now I'm envisioning people only being able to donate one (or have a third they get rid of) and some lab just have a bunch of single nipples that they try to match up for people who need two 😆 Okay now before I go on a Gein ramble, congrats on reaching a decision, and for putting your experience out there. I'm not trans, but I find transition surgery fascinating (and really need to go down a rabbit hole to learn more about it), and love seeing people be able to get as close as possible to the people they want to be. Gives me the warm fuzzies

i have seen some absolutely beautiful scarification and chest pieces on nipple-less chests. you can do so much with the space youll be left with!

I chose not to keep my nipples with my top surgery about 3 years ago now! I was never attached to them (except I guess literally...lol) before surgery and I prioritized having the smoothest/simplest recovery possible. I am very squeamish and do not like hospitals so I wanted to give myself the best shot of not having to go back in multiple times. I generally don't even think about the fact that I don't have them honestly and I don't regret my choice. I also knew if I had graft results I didn't like, complications aside, that I would dislike that outcome more than not having any at all. If you ever really miss them someday, there are also options to get them tattooed on or to get silicone ones to stick on for a day. I believe gendercat has ones that look pretty realistic, although I've never tried them out myself. I bet if you really wanted nipple piercings you could just "pierce" the silicone ones and have basically the most painless piercing experience possible (lol). Best of luck on your journey!! I have inverted nipples also n have not been able to get them pierced I tried once n it didn't go good. I have a big chest n one day would love to get them removed I'm non binary

I hope one day you find happiness and realize that you don't need big pharma to have it. I really hope you find it before you lose all sense of who you actually are and before you lose any more healthy body parts
