TORO Model 21464 Personal Pace Electric Start Lawnmower Blowing Fuses Brand New with Briggs and Stratton Engine. This is brand new, never even cut grass , blew the starter motor fuse . Replaced with another one and it blew. Looked online for reasons why and found none, made this video hope to help others, and also hope someone else found the problem. Someone mentioned the decompression valve system, it seems to lock up on compression stroke but not when I use the pull starter rope. I did not find the problem.

I think the problem is the battery does not have enough amps to turn the motor, its the battery.....not fully charged or not strong enough.....I am in the RC world same issues with electric motors

Good suggestion and we made sure the battery was fully charged . After I finally fixed it , I started it 100 times just to see if I could duplicate it , but it didn't fail once. Thanks for your comment and suggestion. Have a great day.

Toro needs to hire u for QA...Don't keep a lemon yours sound better than mine. It has a three year warranty for starting. Mine sounds like metal hitting metal

Your Battery becomes weak. The Mower is fine just make should that your battery is fully charged with 12 volts plus. I have one of these mowers best mower on the market. Still good video.

Thanks, its working good since I fixed the starter issue, the battery was fully charged. I do find that these new mowers rev lower than the old one, I guess for emissions, and it stalls easier under a heavy load if I miss a week of mowing.

Did you bring it back? did you see the other KZfaq video where the person put 2 washers ? Mine doesn't start anymore and its brand new when I push the button it does nothing at all I didn't get any fuses with mine TORO needs to RECALL this product and be Transparent. Its a great mower but the electrical start is the only BAD issue And I even mentioned it to the TORO customer service but I think they are in Deep denial

Sounds like your fuse is bad. Yes it is a defect and they are all failing. No one who installed the spacers reported back and said it didn't work. It's the only reason we bought it and had to troubleshoot it myself

It’s likely the battery don’t have enough amps to overcome the compression stroke of the engine. I’m not sure if these have an auto decompression in the engine

My neighbor Marcy, lady in her 70s has the same mover for 3 years and now it has the same problem. We tried: New battery Replaced the starter And still no go. We’re dropping off the mover at a small engine shop today to see what they find

Try installing the spacers just as in the video. We have not had the problem since.

@@BENZ007 I ended up bringing the mover to a shop- they believe it might be a weak ground. I’ll keep you updated

This engine is 150 cc 4.6HP I would not touch touch this mower you void warranty what is wrong is The bendex spring is the problem you can not tell the difference between a new one and old one. allso a clicking sound check battery voltage. pull start see if it runs.Jan 7/2022

Gosh, these things are so easy to start by pulling the rope that I’m not sure if electric start is worth the expense/hassle.

That is true but my father in law is 92 and I figured since he still likes to be active why should be even pull start a mower. And this is why we got it truthfully.

For those of us with neck and shoulder problems pulling the rope is a huge deal. Still looking for a reliable electric start

I can start mine (so far) with the button. But, cannot with the cord, it is so difficult. Now, after reading these I'm so worried the button will die.

My new electric start Toro personal pace mower does the same thing. I bought it June 2022. I took it back and they put in a new fuse and gave me some extra's. It keeps blowing fuses what should I do? It is Briggs engine 150cc model number 0993J050173E1

In the description of this video is a link to the fix. Click the link , it's a short video shows you what to do. You just need 2 washers to use as spacer....watch and see.
