We were offered a FREE rotary iron (mangle) to help get the wrinkles out of our sheets and linens. All I had to do was drive to Varennes-Vauzelles. You bet I did! And I took a tour of Joleen & Terrell Huber's beautiful château while I was there. I couldn't have done it without the help of Helen & Paul Bevvers, who let us borrow their van. If you haven't checked out their KZfaq channel, we would recommend it: ‪@thelittlestchateau‬ Bo also repaired the port doors on the tobacco leaf barn! Spring is officially here.

Learn more about our château, nicknamed, 'Queen's Escape and book a night in our bed & breakfast or start planning your wedding or event: chateaudelatuilerie.com/
Subscribe to our KZfaq channel: @Queen's Escape
Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

I take it, Jolene and Terrel don't have a you tube channel. Their chateau is beautiful. I have watched Helen and Paul for ages. They are a real trip. I love them. They do have a lovely chateau also. That was so generous of them all to help you guys out. I hope that huge ironing machine lightens your workload. The tobacco barn doors are epic. All those years, they were left open. They look new again. One can never have too many friends. ❤

Thank you Peter. You’re right, it’s great to have helpful friends and family. We are very thankful that we got the mangle, because it’s a really good one. People are being so kind. And our friends lending Karen their van for a day to go pick it up. I always prioritise which jobs I want to do by the amount of hands I have to help. Some things are not a one man job. So I often evaluate what’s next, and when should we do things that require help. I already have projects for the summer when I know I’ll have several hands to help me. Bo

What beautiful chateaux and a privilege that we were shown around. It takes special people with energy and love for the architectural history, saving these beautiful buildings so well, & respectfully, for generations to come. It looked enjoyable visiting your new friends, especially when you always work so hard. Happy ironing at your own chateau slice of heaven with the lovely walking paths!

It's amazing how many chateaus there are in Europe that have been left to decay. I guess because of the high cost of maintence people can no longer afford to maintain them thus they are deserted and just left to ruin. God Bless all you Chateau owners who are trying to bring life back to these beautiful places. Hugs, Kathy USA 🇺🇸

Hello Katherine, you’re right. There are a lot of château’s around France. When we go up to the plateau, we can see a handful of château’s in our valley alone. According to our information, some 40.000 were built in the 16-17-1800s. And some of them can be quite a handful to bring back to life. Back in the day most château’s had lots of land. But during our search we found that most owners had sold off the land through time, probably so they could afford some maintenance or renovation. Our castle used to have 115 hectares and today it’s 15. But we’re happy with that. Bo

OMG, don’t ask Paul how to fix anything. He and Helen are a real trip. I’ve spent many hours chuckling at their antics. You must watch their older episodes. Love them and their dysfunctional attempts to fix various things like their boiler and clearing trees from their property. Don’t miss their attempt to move the swing set. Love the Hubert’s chateau and their renovations thus far are stunning. How kind of them to give you their mangle. Love your content on this video and still watching from PA, USA.

Very Excellent Idea to get a iron roller for pressing Sheets. Will be less crinkled..Yes they call this device a MANGLE. My mother used to work in a longterm care home and they did their ownlaundry, so they had a MANGLE and my mom ran this device. Ironing sheets, pillowcases, bed spreads. She said it was a very hot job!!

Your friends littlest Chateau would be the perfect size to maintain, And Joleen and Terrells Chateau has the most awesome views. I dont know how close you are to Chateau De lalacelle with Ash and Teryy and family or to Chateau de le Ferte with Adrian and Carole but they both know where to source materials and might be able to help Joleen with finding things in France. It would be a dream to have a small Chateau like theirs but being a poor American from Pa and now living in Ks its just a dream.

Thought of you two today when I was changing a duvet king size cover at my daughters. Huge job, plus the laundry. I would recommend that you get twin size duvets for the beds. Unless things have changed a lot in Denmark and Germany since I lived there, most people use single duvets. Just wanted to share this with you. I know North Americans think singes are a bit strange, but so much easier to change and to wash❤️
