Queen's Escape, Château de La Tuilerie

Queen's Escape, Château de La Tuilerie

Жыл бұрын

In February, we get visits from family. All Bo's kids are on winter break and Karen's sister comes over to celebrate her 50th birthday. The kids love to earn pocket money which means Bo has a lot of hands to work with, expediting his completion of outdoor activities. Karen's sister wanted to immerse her taste buds in local eats. She was brave and we were rewarded with lots of laughs.

Learn more about our château, nicknamed, 'Queen's Escape and book a night in our bed & breakfast or start planning your wedding or event: chateaudelatuilerie.com/
Subscribe to our KZfaq channel: @Queen's Escape
Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

Wow, Bo’s daughter did a wonderful job on the paneling and fireplace in the Orangery. It looks spectacular; she and the boys are also making a big difference on the lawn. What an asset they are in keeping and getting the Chateau in tip top shape. I’m surprised at the huge improvement you’ve made so far. Bo, those umbrellas came out like brand new. It’s amazing what you “fly boys” can do when you put your mind on it. 😃 Karen, that sister of yours is a hoot. Loved her reaction to the goat cheese, I can relate, I too hate goat cheese. Love your channel from PA, USA.

Put a plastic container (garbage can) tall enough to cover the fabric and 1-2 times a month fill with water and vinegar and let them soak overnight. Once you notice pollen remember to close them at night because the pollen comes out all early and the moisture from the dew makes everything covered. Then the scorching sun bakes it all together leaving a sticky surface for EVERYTHING to run and jump on. Only open the umbrella when absolutely need. I hate going to a table with a umbrella that was left outside all summer. The sun dry rotted all of the fabric. Mildew, spiders, cobwebs, bird 💩 , and the neighbors pooper scooper. Closing and opening the umbrella is no different than closing and opening the windows and shutters. Just practice. I remember seeing a comment about doing MONTHLY things. You need a vary large office with lots of open walls to do you projects. You need a wall for daily repetition jobs. A wall for project in progress. A I wish but we will see. This wall can also hold suggested project, wish list, and your “you are crazy that’s 2024 or more like 2088 to match when you get done with the shutters and you have to start all over bc they need repainting. 😂 Girl I am a list person pretty much my whole life but now that I am starting to become more forgetful list are everything. I can’t even watch a movie if I am not able to pause write down information start again. Even writing these comments take a really long time to type because I get a little lost in my thoughts. I tend to type some of the comment then I lose track so I go back and see all of the jumbled words. It’s a little bit like dislexia where to me the letters look like “ Hello how are you doing?” But in reality it’s more like “HELlo how ary yu doing. So a comment could take me 5 minutes or 50 minutes. I’m binge watching and on some of the episodes it can take me 30-40 minutes to watch then the commenting section is difficult. You can always not respond. I’m tired and can’t seem to verbalize my thought. I’m will go now.

I'm a landscape Architect in Arizona, but grew up in New York,. What I don't see in any of these restorations are colorful base plantings that have immense impact like Azaleas, Weeping cherry trees, lilacs, Wisteria vines, Hydrangeas, etc. I recall our neighbor in NY, the front of the house and down the side driveway had Azaleas planted of various colours. It was absolutely stunning in the spring. Drivers by would literally stop in the street to stare at the front of this house, (a dutch colonial built about 1750) a good idea of what it looks like are photos of the Masters golf course in Augusta Georgia , if you did similar, it would be a go to in the spring-summer for flower shows,, Put powder blue purple hydrangeas every 10' as foundation plantings, which bloom all summer and are also stunning,, Good luck,. And love all your work and saving history as well,,

Hello Sally, not counting the rooms in the cellar and the attic, we have 9 bedrooms on the first and second floor. We use one ourselves, and because we are making the Elizabeth II suite into a 3 room apartment with a turret bathroom and toilet + an additional toilet in one of the other rooms, Karen was not counting those in. Frech law dictate only 5 rooms or 15 people at one time. If you surpass those limitations, you enter the ‘hotel regulations’ and we do not want to bother with those requirements.

There has to be a balance between keeping everything as it is, and what works for today, people do not have horses nowadays so no point in preserving an area for them when it can function better with the workshop. No body would want to stay in an old chateau if they did not bring it up to date with amenities etc, and also it has to be up to standard with the local councils etc.

You do realize that children cannot work in France don't you??? Under 16 is illegal and 16-18 is limited to part-time.....and they must be paid and social security paid for them as well as social charges..poor kids, treated like slaves.....
@thierrymilan2039
@thierrymilan2039 Жыл бұрын
As a Frenchman, I confirm what you say about children work laws. But there is no case of illegal work here, their children are pleased to help their parents but they are not forced to do so and are not doing it on a regular basis. In legal terms, that is called family support. If the work laws would be apply like you said, every family would be in trouble, a non sense.
