I'm thinking a magnet parts tray/bowl to catch all those bolts nuts and whatnots, sockets, etc, from the driveshaft, etc so they don't get lost before returned to the customer, and a box of ziplock baggies to put them in.

That's one thing most people do not take into account for Trent, The working environment. The high desert temps along with the high humidity are ingredients for a disaster. The hotter it is, more truck parts are going to fail. Same thing with the bitter cold. The colder it is, you see more cars & truck broke down. Remember the with extreme heat & cold that metal parts change shape.

I felt rather ill from lack of water and the heat by the time video was finished. (A sign of a good video) I kept hoping that would see you take some big drinks of water from time to time! Am posting from coastal Oregon where the sun is still up and breezes are presently quite strong. The current temp on my back outside porch is now 60 degree F. Big difference but I do remember going through Death Valley one summer and we have lived in Phoenix, so can relate. Enjoyed your video very much, but for heavens sake take a case of bottled water along in your truck from now on! Best Wishes.

Trent is out in the low desert about 100 miles east of where I am. Deserts can get really hot in the daytime, and then if the sky isn't cloudy, really cold at night. Normally (from what I remember, I haven't been there in years) the humidity is pretty low where the office is. But he was down toward the south someplace picking this thing up, and the southern Imperial Valley can get really humid, as well as really hot. I think he mentioned at the end that is was 110F (or about 44C) when he was doing that.
@MrTwisted003
@MrTwisted003 6 жыл бұрын
For conversion sake 110-117 F is about 43-47 C. The hottest it was when I lived out there (between 92' and 99') it would get as high as 120F(49C) to 127F(53C)(hottest day I ever saw), if only for a day, with 112- 118F (45-48C) average highs. Humidity is usually single digits though, but when it does get to 25-30% you feel like melting.

Feeling tired is a red flag when working in the heat. Take 5 and drink something. A few minutes "lost" is far better than injuring yourself or damaging something because you were off your game! For example: the first time you tried to free the driveshaft at 16:02. You were between the frame and the driveshaft on the side with the strap - if the shaft *had* come free it would have dropped and swung into your body, likely slamming your head or neck into the frame. Not a good situation.

Only 110, eh? :-) I'd been guessing around 118 to 120 out there on the sand. But high humidity will do it every time! I hope you keep an 'emergency' gallon of water in the truck, along with whatever you got in extra-large at 7-11 that morning! It's not like you have a lot of spare room in that beast, but they make drink cooler boxes that will plug into the lighter socket and stay cold. Kinda mini-refrigerators good for a sixpack or two, or the equivalent in something you can drink on the road. Might be worth looking into.

He was caging the brakes, as in caging them so they do not go on. The driver that jack knifed thought the trailer brakes caused the issue, so Trent basically disconnected all 4 trailer brakes so they do not cause him any issue. Trailer is empty the truck brakes are all Trent needs to stop properly. That round container uses the air he hooks up to control the brakes. Modern trailers are supposed to have a spring in the round container that will apply the brakes if there is no air pressure. This is to keep a disconnected trailer from moving and if the Tractor pulling the trailer lost air pressure the brakes would come on once the air pressure in the tank drops to about 20-30 pounds stopping the trailer and tractor.

How would trailer brakes locking up curse a jack knife?
@xeldinn86
@xeldinn86 5 жыл бұрын
They locked up in the rear only from what I understand and he was going around a corner, so with them locked the back end would NOT turn with the trailer.
@patb9375
@patb9375 5 жыл бұрын
Alexis DeVille A jack knife is usually caused by the lack of the trailer getting traction for the brakes to slow it down. One example and a guess not accusing the driver, but if the driver was going to fast into the corner and hit the brakes hard, but the trailer brakes did not work at all or locked solid the tires would not get the traction the heavy tractor would and so the back end would not slow down as fast as the tractor, since the front wheels on the tractor are turned for a corner the trailer would get loose and keep on going even as the front (tractor) was slowing, the inertia of the trailer would spin it on the king pin holding it to the tractor and around it comes. When you watch the video look for tire marks (black skid lines) like the ones caused when Trent pulled the trailer sideways with his rig. I did not see any marks in the direction of the corner and so would guess the trailer brakes failed or were not hooked up correctly and he got into the corner to fast, braked hard causing the trailer to go for a swing but since the tires could still turn they do not leave big skid marks. Hope it makes sense, I give you sarcastic answers sometime thought I should be polite and explain it. Think about 5th or 6th grade science class. If you drive in heavy rain or icy roads this is why you do not drive along side or right behind a tractor trailer. Also if the tires are junk you can get tire parts flying at you.

Now I realize why you only take one item out of the cargo bay at a time. I spent all this time asking myself, why does he grab a single item at a time versus grabbing multiple; I now realize you get paid $500 + time. So you’re essentially milking the job for pennies. You should really work on being more efficient. If I pick up on this all the way from Indiana while watching your vids, what do potential customers think about your family business and your ethics!!
@patb9375
@patb9375 5 жыл бұрын
So should he have all the tools on a big trailer he can pull up to the item he is towing? Every tow is different and every brand truck is different. If someone already removed the drive shaft the bolts may be a different size so should he take all of the wrenches and sockets with every time? Even the truck owner commented on how hard Trent was working in the heat and humidity. It is usually the dishonest people that accuse others of being dishonest!
