Tracy’s Home & Garden

Жыл бұрын

Hi everyone,
My name is Tracy and I garden (indoors and outdoors) in Canada zone 6a (equivalent to US 5a), bake and cook at my home in Toronto, Canada.
You are watching a video of my Silent Garden Tour with Plant Names & Music. It is sad to say goodbye to spring but summer is just around the corner and its going to be a warm and exciting one for our plants and gardens.
p.s. Roses are one of my most favourite blooms (aside from hydrangeas). Due to our Japanese beetles invasion that starts in July, I feel like I must capture all of their beauty in the first flush to enjoy before the invasion of Japanese beetles take over.
Thank you so kindly for taking some of your precious time to watch my video.
Happy gardening & see you next time.🪴💚

Your garden is so gorgeous and an inspiration. I am originally from Mtl, where gardening was so much easier (and nicer plants) than where I live now in Texas. Makes me miss my home country watching this.😍😍😍 I love your roses, I have the John Davis climber from them and it's similar and so pretty also.

Thank you Lia! A warmer climate like in Texas has its benefits but may not be suitable for cold climate plants like hydrangeas. I’m glad you found this video 💚 inspirational. Happy gardening! 🙏

Could it be the minerals in the soil? I also notice the images on DA site to be less pink as well? 😳. Actually, I hope my labels are correct.

Are you in the GTA? I got the latest DA from Sheridan Nursery. They do have an online store and you can pre-order them in December for next spring. I love old roses for their fragrance and simplicity. All the best !

Beautiful garden as always ❤, another query I have had bad luck with my Echinacea they don’t make it over the winter here... you have similar hard winters in Canada as we have in Sweden do you also know about this issue?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Hi Matilda, Echinacea - the two varieties that I know well are rudbeckia and coneflowers. These are hardy all the way to zones 3-4. From my experience, they do well and are prolific in sunny conditions. Perhaps, try to cover the plants in 3-4” of compost or mulch just before hard frost this winter to give them some extra protection?

On my patio having coffee listening to the birds in my yard and watching your video. Just beautiful. My bobos are starting to bud very little. I’m glad I listened to you last year and gave them a chance. I have 12 lining a boarder. Love your music videos with written details on each plant. Very informative. Thanks. 🇨🇦

The roses are amazing and stunning Tracy. Where do you find David Austin roses?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Thank you Susan! 🙏. The I got the DA roses from Sheridan Nursery, Vandermeer Nursery & Valleyview Nursery. I think Sheridan is in the GTA and they do have an online store. I went there wanting to buy 3 of same kind to plant in the space where the 2 dead roses are and they had just 1 Shropshire Lad left at Sheridan. I may have to plant one now and pre-order the other 2 next spring.

Beautiful garden. Quick question: is your japanese maple in the shade during the day? I plan to buy myself one for my own garden, but I've heard it should be placed somewhere in shade. My garden is on sunny side, so I'm afraid the sun might kill the tree. (I'm in the zone 7)
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
In our zone 5a I think it needs some sun to bring out the bright red color. I have mine in full sun all day (south facing) and it seems to be loving the space. I’m zone 7, with the long growing season and more intense heat - it may do well in spring but by mid summer the foliage may burn and it won’t do as well.
