It looks like you're testing the vigilance/sifa system every time you enter the cab, is that correct? All we do in Switzerland after changing cab is the brake check and train data programming. Vigilance and other safety features are tested in the early morning, when the train is about to come into service and not tested again during the whole day.

On these older analogue (more reliable) trains we test 'm eacht time. The newer ones that run on software (making them less reliable like everything that runs on software), the dead man system is tested only once every 24 hours.

Thanks for the answer. We do that early in the morning for the dead man system, sign it in the checkbook and it is done for the day, no matter how old or new the train is. The second stage of the system, which applies when the pedal is pressed but the train controls not being touched, is tested during the ride. It comes into action after 48s or 1600m (whatever comes first) of no action and requires the driver to change anything on the controls (high beams, brake apply, speed change, anything like that) or just lift the foot off the pedal and press it down again. That is signed too, together with 2 - 4 other safety functions (stop on red, ETCS etc.) and that was it for the day...

Yes. They are more important to do checks during the preparation time. Dead man's system is being checked always. Apparently, some trains do not have the Dead man's system unfortunately, especially older deisels.

How do you know which way to take a switch? Your system has no signals governing your swtchs. It is confusing to a train operator like myself who is use to having signal telling witch ways they are set so i can take the right line up.

We always trust that they direct us the right direction... Only manual switches have these signs.

Have you tried 14 (4-3-3-4 or so on) carriges ICM? What time and date of day taken? Which routes are the 3-4 trainsets driven? 7:51-9:09 Faster faster! Overtake! :) 9:28 12 carriges DDZ :)

This was taken on 20-01-18 at 10:00 (you can see the clock on the train display). ICMm is currently running on the lines: Zwolle-Roosendaal, Den Haag/Rotterdam-Leeuwarden/Groningen, Den Haag-Amersfoort, Schiphol-Amersfoort, Almere-Amsterdam, Den haag/Schiphol-Enschede, Amsterdam-Deventer, Dordrecht-Breda and Leiden-Utrecht.

I don't even think 4 ICMm's is allowed in normal service (some platforms could not be long enough therefore). But I regularly see 3 ICMm's (either 4+3+3 or 4+4+3), especially on Koningsdag (27 april).

Yeh. 4 ICMm treinstels are a rare sight. But they certainly are economic, reducing passenger congestion, especially during passenger seasons (eg. Holidays) and rush hours.

Sil ten napel I know where they are Currently operating, always doing research in all trains In your country and others. I mean the 3-4 ICMm trainsets combined (eg. 4+3+3 / 4+3+3+4). I rarely see 4 ICMm combinations. Thanks for additional info. :)

De atbkast is niet zo interessant, die kun je niet openen. De geluiden komen uit een luidspreker dus daar valt ook niks aan te zien. Of bedoel je dat niet?

What he said. But this function to walk underneath de cab driver to the other train is removed. This function isn't used that much and at the icy days, the doors that needs to open, don't opens any time

heeft elke machinist eigen sleutels van alle treinen? zijn er maar 3 soorten sleutels voor alle treinen?

Ik geloof 3; een nok- en DOM- en faiveley sleutel. (Die laatste is alleen voor oudere treintypes) De sleutels zijn standaard voor alle treinen binnen NS en zijn voor de conducteur en machinist. De noksleut is bedoeld voor de deuren en diverse kastjes. De DOM sleutel is voor belangrijke kasten, cabinedeuren en het ontgrendelen van de stuurstroom. De conducteur heeft een iets andere DOM sleutel waarmee hij alleen de stuurstroom niet kan ontgrendelen

Meester, dit is een ICMm, ICM's hebben een doorloop stuk, ICMm's hebben daar electronica zitten. Jouw trein had geen streep in het midden en/of geen doorloop stuk.

De kleine m was een toevoeging om onderscheid te maken tussen wel en nog niet gereviseerde stellen. Nu alle stellen gereviseerd zijn is de m wer vervallen.

Dat, en om nog wat toe te voegen: ze staan altijd zo geplaatst dat je aan beide zeiden van de lamp het einde van het obstakel of bocht kan zien, of de volgende WUBO (zo heten ze, Waarschuwingsinstallatie uitzichtbelemmerende objecten).

Passenger could walk to a coupled set, through a corridor underneath the cab. This facility is not being used anymore.

Electro-Pneumatisch. Dat betekent simpel gezegd dat de remcilinders via een electrische bedienbaar pneumatisch ventiel worden gevuld, dat werkt sneller dan alleen pneumatisch en op deze manier remmen alle wielen van de trein tegelijkertijd.

Beste Train Driver's POV Dutch Railways, Ik wil later graag machinist worden, maar ik heb een vraag: Welke studie (Havo/vmbo enz.) Moet ik hebben? Alvast bedankt! ;)

DeNijkerkseTreinspotter vmbo is goed genoeg als je zeker bent dat je machinist wil worden, kan je HAVO en vind je een andere baan ook leuk die op havo-niveau is moet je dat doen, dan krijg je een hoger loon dan bij treinmachinist. Je verdient helaas niet zoveel als machinist.

Het salaris van een machinist is dankzij alle vergoedingen veel hoger dan iedereen denk, misschien wel het best betaalde baantje op VMBO-niveau dat er is. Maar inderdaad, kun je Havo, zorg dan dat je dat diploma haalt. Zo'n 95% van alle aanmeldingen voor machinist valt af. Tijdens de opleiding nog eens 10%. Handig om iets achter de hand te hebben.

All trains have a horn, but in most of European countries it's used only in a danger situation, you don't use it before every crossing.
