I had Transient Global Amnesia for 24 hours June, 2018. At one point, I could not remember my name. I was 56. It began in the evening. In the morning, I knew I had a job but did not know where I worked and was worried I would get in troble for not showing up (turned out I actually work from home!). I saw my cat but could not remember her name. When it started, I had just came through the McDonald's drive-thru (product placement) and could not remember where I livd.ed. I found my way back, but could not remember where I parled in the apartment comples. I figured that out, got into th apartment, got undressed, and could not remember my name! I remember most of the event. A neurologist diagnosed me with TGA.

I had this after my minister got angry with me at church. She had got the wrong number and she was angry that I needed to ask her about it. I was really upset and wanted to leave but she asked me to stay because I was playing the piano. Then suddenly it was near the end of the service and I was asking one of our Deacons what had happened, what I had done, had something happened to me? It was so confusing. I was really afraid. Apparently I played all of the songs and everything was normal but I have no memory of any of it at all. It was quite frightening to know that I did things I don't know about. I'm glad I know what it is now.

Didn’t even know this was a thing until my doctor told me today that I may have experienced this a couple days ago. Had an intense sense of deja vu and then it became extremely difficult to focus. The next hour is almost impossible for me to remember. The only thing that is throwing my doctor off is that I’m in my mid thirties and other than this I’m in perfect health. I appreciate the information you put out, I feel like I understand this a little better

My husband has just suffered his second attack days short of exactly 5 years ago. Both attacks lasted at least 10 hours before some memory returned/ he was able to hold onto information just provided etc. he lost a full month of memory for that time.

I have had 3 from 2008 - 2019, Also occasionally get aura migraines. Very scary, I wear a medic alert bracelet with key information. 2 of the times I was not with friend or family. Wonderful EMT's. Very scary and no memory of the time you are in the event.

Omg thank you. Aura Migraine is almost exactly what describes what I get commonly but I usually call them Ocular Seizures because I don't get colors or anything just, I lose vision in a spot of my vision that starts tiny and gets bigger and bigger until about 70% of my vision just vanishes but that's how I know I am about to get a migraine so once my vision messes up, I take a few headache pills and I lose my vision but don't get the headache. And eventually it goes away. But I had TGA happen to me one night when I woke up and I was in my own bed but had absolutely no idea where I was, what was going on, the time...nothing. It was like I knew the house but didn't know whose house it was. It was honestly more terrifying remembering it happened than the night terrors I used to get years ago. But thank you.. Now I can describe my pre-migraines as being between Aura Migraines and Ocular Seizures because I don't really see colors, it's just my vision vanishes. No blurriness, or color distortions, just like a clear blackhole sucking in the vision of whatever I'm looking at.

As a child I remember having 2 bad migraine headaches, end of September 2018 I had a TGA episode after making love to my girlfriend I remember asking her where am I, what happened, and remembering that I forgot I sold a car and bought another one, after a day I was back to normal, then 9 months later I suffered a moderate stroke, 4 months later I'm 80% recovered.... Wondering if it's all related...? & only found out what it was after it was used as an excuse in a court case.

I wonder IF "some" of the patients who have had TGA had previously been prescribed excess vitamin "D" for a medical reason? Could that be the culprit/trigger (too much vitamin D per individual)? He or she may have had an adverse reaction to the vitamin D (in particular, a mental side effect), within a 3-month span of discontinuing the "D" vitamin. I do not know if there has been a study regarding the aforementioned. But if there has NOT been a study, perhaps there should be one.

I’ve never heard of a vitamin D connection before. What have you heard? This is interesting
@Lydia361000

@@julied2798 @Julie D Sometimes a doctor(s) might recommend taking excess over-the-counter Calcium/Vitamin D for your bones (over double the dose or more). IF the vitamin-combo is too much for someone to handle, it might give the patient extreme high blood pressure and make them feel very strange (Depending on the brand). If you stop the Calcium/D, you assume you are fine and all is OK. For example, if one has started the Vitamins in January and then you get the TGA in March . . . there might be a connection (for some people) between the excess of "D" and the TGA. The possible side effects and/or allergies of--Vitamin D Toxicity (VDT)--are found on the Internet (For example Healthline). But I also assume/know that TGA can additionally be attributed to any personal, agonizing experience to a patient that may have occurred in the past, maybe a couple of years prior to the TGA incident (The VDT could possibly contribute to the TGA?): This is my assumption. I might be overthinking the above, but it would be interesting to find answers.

hi, this was very helpful. the drs think my husband is having complex partial seizures with memory loss, but this sounds more like what is happening. the thing is, he has these terror or anxiety attacks just before the amnesia, feeling of extreme dread. what could this be? thank you for your help :)

I had this episode for the first time, I suffer from migraines. This happened to me on Monday night , today is Sunday and I don't feel completely clear on my mind. I still can't think straight, I confused the days, that Monday is completely erase from my memory. You said it only last 24 hours, why I still feel this way? How long until I feel normal again?

You eventually become much better. "After" my TGA incident, around two years ago, I came home from the hospital, and the following day I still had trouble concentrating. I had a hard time making my usual Oatmeal breakfast. It took a long time for me to get back to normal--but you do get better with each day! And then you are PERFECT. At the beginning, when I came home from the hospital, I did not want to even talk to anyone on the phone . . I was not up to it. It took a while to get back in the groove, but then you are fine. I have had No other TGA incidents for two years. Gisela, I hope you are feeling great by now!

This happened to me in 2015, the day after the first Republican debate. I was driving with carpool buddies to work and we were discussing the debate. I got very agitated about Donald Trump and that seems to have been the trigger. It was a strange mixture of things I could remember (my mom's birthday, which I hardly ever remembered) and things I couldn't (I wasn't able to tell the doctors who the president was). I haven't had any repetition, and I think I have a better memory than most people.
