When you're using the fin roller.. try slowin the rolling speed sown a touch and only work it in one direction rather than back and forth. pulls the excess resin and air out of the lay up rather than pushing it back and forth. Looking great though!

I'm doing the transome of my starflite 21 checkemate. Do you think I can do the same fabric procedure you did? They are two 3/4 panels. It won't be too heavy or will it be fine?

Looks really solid boys, you took your time and did it right. Is their any issues using vinyl ester and epoxy resin. Correct me if I’m incorrect I didn’t think you could use epoxy resin and vinyl ester, they do not chemically work together, ?..

Thanks mate! I touched base on this is last video because it’s a very small overlap it won’t effect it as a posed to a full laminate on top of epoxy.

Please tell me. Between the layers or glass epoxy or polyester? And what is the glue between the plywood and the transom?

Can someone explain. How you fill the bolt holes? Seems like a risk to introduce holes when sandwiching the wood together. Are they just covered with glass and resin on the outside of the hole or do you fill them with resin before adding the glass ?
@AngryMackAdventures
@AngryMackAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate hole filled with resin all the way through then ground out like a bowl and layers of glass, sand flush This will be done later in the build

This interests me as well, seems like you have little option but adding holes through the new transom is not good, Need some industrial sized g clamps but they would be bloody huge to give the clamping load you need!
@808zone
@808zone 2 жыл бұрын
best to pre drill old holes out one size bigger befor filling , creates a fresh bond

Transom check. So how much added weight is that?
@AngryMackAdventures
@AngryMackAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
I’d say close to 50kg of extra weight in the transom from original. That’s a very broad guess
@tonyburton4963

How thick is the transom? How much of that is ply? There doesnt seem to be much glass in there.
@AngryMackAdventures
@AngryMackAdventures 8 ай бұрын
Plenty of glass. 90mm thick 6 layers of 1708 to start on the original outter skin. Layer of 25mm ply, 2 layers of 1708, one layer 450 chop, another Layer of 25mm ply, 2 layers of 1708, one layer 450 chop, last layer of 10 mm ply, 2 layers of 1708, one layer 450 chop.
@Fluid36
@Fluid36 2 жыл бұрын
1708 already has a layer of chop stitched in so what's the point of the extra layer of chop?
@AngryMackAdventures
@AngryMackAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate it’s only very thin, not going to help with my situation so using another heavier CSM like the 300 helps me to eliminate air bubbles if the surface is not 100% flat. Worked well

Why did you bother with ply? Pourable ceramic would be faster and a lot stronger, plus no rot ever. That is what I will be using in the next six months.
