Danielle Matias, PA-C discusses our approach to treating Heel Bursitis and Achilles Tendinopathy with PRP Prolotherapy when an acute problem has become chronic. For those who have been unable to return to pain-free sports and activities after months of trying cortisone, stretching, icing, ibuprofen, etc, it could be that you really have an undiagnosed chronic degenerative condition versus true bursitis.

I expected the bursa to be much bigger to fill all the room between the tendon and the bones. If I look at my swollen, hot foot, it's hard to believe that it was caused by that tiny structure. It's amazing how much heat energy is being pumped in there. The body should do that in cold weather.

Great explanation. I have a bursa sack at on the inside of my arch near the front of the heel where the arch begins. It is chronic and always hurts but swells a lot when I exercise and presses on the nerve that runs down the inside of my ankle. The podiatrist just gave me a shot in my heel. What is the best fix for that? What kind of practitioner should I see?

If I have a posterior heel spur, what are my options? Is surgery inevitable?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi TWC, Thank you for your question. Heel spurs do not necessarily require surgery. Prolotherapy is a great alternative in the treatment of the pain from bone spurs. Typically, bone spurs occur because of joint instability from ligament and tendon laxity. We find that treating this root cause of the bone spur (instability) and reducing the excessive motion, pain can be resolved without surgical intervention in most cases we see. Dr. Hauser discusses bone spurs more specifically in a couple other videos as well, if you want to check those out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adJ4hLB62da-nX0.html & kzfaq.info/get/bejne/esWaoKik1uCqZKc.html If you would like to discuss your case with one of our team members, please reach out to us directly. Is this condition is like autoimmune disorder?? I have pain exactly right there at ankle
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi friendship love, Heel bursitis and tendinopathy are not autoimmune conditions. Of course, with any pain condition, a patient's medical history would need to be reviewed to rule out autoimmune disorders or if there is the presence of both and how to treat would be determined at that time. But in general, cases where the pain is indicative of joint degeneration and instability, we use a regenerative medicine approach such as PRP Prolotherapy. If you would like our team to review your case and see if you sound like a good candidate for our center, feel free to reach out and tell us more about your case: www.caringmedical.com/conditions/prolotherapy-treatment-ankle-pain/ Hope you get the help you need to overcome your ankle pain!

instability is degenerative, meaning it will not get better or go away on its own. Regeneration needs to happen for healing to take place - this is where Prolotherapy comes in! It is a regenerative medicine injection technique that promotes the growth of normal cells and tissues.

I hope you are still answering questions people like myself. I have had foot of one kind our another. As I child I was known for walking on my toes and having really strong leg muscles. However this was because I was plagued with fallen arches. By the time I was 24 I realized that I needed some kind of office job were most of the time I will sitting. And even with that, I still spent a lot of time on my feet which was fine until I gain a large amount weight as a well known side effect of this medicine. My doctor will not give me a referral to any kind specialist or even tell me what would be the correct information about what. About 6 years I saw a pediatrics and he just poked my feet a bit then suggested some very expensive cortisone shots. My question is, isn't there another type of specialist, possibly a doctor that does the type of investigation to properly examine and diagnose and treat complicated foot problems especially structural issues? And if so, what are they called. I live in Canada and my regular doctor claims no such field exists. If you can respond with some insight or information, I would be very grateful. Thank you for your time.

Hi Amandahugandkiss411- Sorry that you've been unable to get to the bottom of the condition with the doctors in your area. We know that can be very frustrating! You may want to look for a Prolotherapy provider online who treats complex foot cases and could see you for a thorough exam and consultation. We do not have specific referrals but do see cases like yours in our center. If you wanted our team to help you, we treat patients from Canada, although we understand that is not always feasible for patients to travel here. We wish you all the best as you move forward and research regenerative medicines specialists who can help restore your function. Take good care.

@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 11 ай бұрын
Hi @cindyrobertson3780 - Awesome question! PRP treatment takes your blood, like going for a blood test, and re-introduces the concentrated blood platelets from your blood into areas of chronic joint and spine deterioration and aids in the healing process, although not all patients need PRP injections. It is ultimately up to your case and provider on which type of injection is best.

I have tried a range of drugs which hasn't helped, which my specialist has asked me to try. Not only that, but I have tested positive for hla-B27. My problem started from training for my second 10k run last year, and now I struggle to drive my car using the pedals after 5 minutes I am in pain again. Hi Missy Skeeter, Thanks for sharing and reaching out. To know for sure, we suggest seeing a provider who can do a physical exam of your feet and perhaps ultrasound to take a look at the tissue and do a more comprehensive history and then make a proper diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Hope you can get a professional opinion soon and perhaps a Prolotherapy consultation to see if that would be appropriate for your case or what other options would be recommended to help keep you hiking and without pain afterward. Take care.

We are so sorry to hear that Michael - we understand how frustrating it can be to not have an answer to these types of problems. Often times having the diagnosis does not solve the problem. We have found that individuals who are diagnosed with heel bursitis actually have instability elsewhere, like a posterior tibial tendon tear, Peroneus brevis tendon tear, Achilles tendinosis or Plantar fasciopathy.

Honestly, unless I have an obvious infection that requires antibiotics I'm not sure why I'd ever bother going to the doctor again. I'm convinced doctors do a decade of study to learn how to write a script for antibiotics, as in my 54 years experience on this planet that's literally all they're good for. Oh yeh, and making a ton of money for the pharmaceutical industry selling all their sugar pill placebo's.
