Steve Gantner thanks! One other thing that just happens recently you might want to know. The chain guide wears out fast. I have just over 7000 miles and the botom side wore a hole through it. Another fellow higher rider said he went 9000 ish and it tore up the rubber dampers that are in side them. The cost is about 35.00 U.S. dollars. The dampers and such will push up around 90-100. It pretty easy to change with just removing the tire but still only 7000 miles out of that guide seemed crazy. Again thank you for watching!

@Brandon Woodard most bikes that are chain drive have a guide or something similar. The one on the ZX6-R i had never really showed any wear like this Triumph. Its something to look at every once in a while, for instance while cleaning or lubing your chain. Hope that helps

Richard Bloom I went to a revile party and asked some questions. The off road mode has to be selected every time you start the bike. They are offering a optional tire for off road. The wind screen has been redesigned but I don't k ow it that will fix that problem. The TFT is cool looking.

I have bottomed it out a few times. I was on a forest service road and they have the humps that keep the water from tearing up the road. I jumped off a few of those. Also, some of the single track has little jumps, Not that the tiger is meant to jump. As for pushing around a corner and bottoming the suspension, I haven't. What company is the skid shield and engine guard your looking at from?

Yes that air filter is ridiculous. I ended up putting a pre-filter on to help increase the life of the stock filter

@Brandon Woodard A pre filter is a filter that is placed in front of any main filter. For instance the pre filter I am talking about is a foam type that is soaked in a tacky oil film to collect dust from going into the main filter. This particular bike had a paper type filter that is suitable for street riding but not so much for dirt. Most the time the aftermarket comes up with some neat things like this that help us out on the ride.

Have a 2019 XRT. I don't care for "Adventure" styling at all, but wanted an all-day all-weather bike in retirement. Man does this bike deliver! Way nice seat, power is perfect, ergonomics great as well as the comfort and convenience of heated stuff, cruise, antilock and the rest. At 5-7" the windshield makes for a quiet smooth ride even in the low position. Yep, I'm pretty much a walking Tiger 800 and. The machine earns its accolades though.😎

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, the windscreen is garbage. There was a rumor that the new 2018 tiger 800 has a better design its taller with a forward facing lip. Maybe I might get a chance to ride one. They were showing that the high is adjustable by pulling the windscreen forward to disengage it from the latch assembly and slide it up or down to suit your needs. The one thing that bothered me most was that fact it doesn't stay in the off-road mode when you turn the key off then on. The Triumph Rep said it was a liability for them as anyone could be getting on the bike and they want the rider to know, by pressing the button that they are in the off-road setting. The air filter I fixed with installing an additional pre-filter that is oiled to trap about 75-80% of the dust and dirt. The switching mode was not addressed. The rep said they do that because if you were to had your bike over to another rider they want it to have all the abs and traction control stuff active. The engine noise doesn't bother me. It is kind of a Triumph thing. When your up to speed I'd say 35mph or better the noise is drowned out by road and wind noise.

@@michaelphillips7596 yes. I went to one of triumphs bike reveal shows. I lile the display the lights and the fact that you can reset the service indicator if you do your own oil changes. They also offer a more aggressive tire stock.

Piston Slap Yeah, I've never seen one on a car. Kinda dumb that motos are always different.

They're not on cars in the UK either, or anywhere else for that matter. Cars all use the same size, worldwide.

The service light doesn't flash. The only flashing lights would be if your riding in off-road mode. The abs light blinks. The traction control light will also flash if you're spinning the tire.

Currently I don't. There is a low seat adjustment to lower the seat down a little. There is also a redesigned seat that also is lower to make it even shorter. You might check out " as The Magpie flies" or Jen's motoadventure. I'm not too sure how tall they are but they both ride Triumph tigers and I would imagine they're shorter than me

Also for reference i have a 31" inseam and i sit flat footed when loaded and full gear

Awesome man, it been 7+ years since I change jobs...then again I have to keep going to school to learn all the new stuff that keeps coming out on cars. My schedule is messed up as well. I work M-F 7-6 and the wife works the weekends and its a crap shoot on what hours she works. I usually go out for a ride Sunday evenings till midnight!

Makes sense, I work extra jobs on the side, it helps to keep the wife home so she don't have to work, I have been blessed with finding some good ones to work. I am 6'2" and approx. 180lbs. I have my windscreen adjusted about half way up and it works like a charm. It may not look as pretty but its highly functional and has eliminated any back pain during longer rides (i.e. 900 miles to Oregon and back to CA in 2 days). The gap in between the windscreen gets rid of a lot of the noise and creates a smooth air bubble behind the windscreen with little turbulence. Its definitely one of the best investments I've made.

Toby 750 I haven't yet. There isn't a lot of A/T bikes running around that someone would let me hop on and ride.

Toby 750 it really depends on what you are looking for in a bike. I do a lot of different riding. I knew that I wanted the ability to go off road so I wanted to be able to turn off the and and traction control. I went with the xca for a lot of reasons. It had heated seats and grips. The electronic cruise is fantastic for long rides as well. I think the A/T would be better off road but in.the end I still would be able to go anywhere a A/T would go. There are a few things that are irritating about the Triumh. The off road mode switching back when you turn the bike off is the main complaint for me.

Depends on what you lile to ride. Some manufactures including triumph are now offering a more aggressive tire for off road.

James Bullock I h avent rode a 2018 yet but I believe the suspension is the same. They did shave off a a few pounds by putting a lighter muffler on it. I did sit on one and it felt the same stagnate.

James Bullock it's not a problem. Just a bit soft. There are a couple forum post about it. When you load the bike up with all the riding gear panniers and stuff in them it dosent have enough spring to keep the suspension firm enough. Its not a problem if you are a mellow rider. If you start pushing the bike it gets wobbly in the corners

The in road ride quality is soft. It gets a bit loose if you push it hard into the corners. Other than that it has a neutral or upright riding position.

I talked to a rep about that. They said that it was a safety feature so that if i was riding in off road and got off and handed the keys to the next guy they would have to set the modes up to what they want. I think its lame.

@Brandon Woodard I would encourage you to test ride every bike you can. I was lucky when I wanted to test drive the tiger the dealer filled the tank up, handed me the keys and said ride it till you love it or hate it! I wish there were more dealers out there like that. I also try to go to the test ride events even if it is not a bike I am interested in. Its good to feel what other types of bikes feel and ride like. I love the Tiger for the sport bike feel but the ability to go off-road and traverse the dirt trails and road.

I can't say that i have ever really heard of a bike that has the right setup from the factory. I run muy preload almost maxed out.

@@PistonSlap that makes it worse. the rear shock was replaced which fixed the problem but the forks still do it. loose shim stacks/bushings is my guess, the WP forks on my dirt bike dont do it. did you make it to 12,000 miles, did the valves need doing?

Maybe this winter...Im kind of on the fence of trading it in for a 250 two stroke dirtbike. I have been riding a little be if single track with the drz400 and love it. Just wish i had a lighter bike

@@PistonSlap i have a 250 4 stroke which i find easier to live with than a 2 smoker. im on the fence for trading my tiger in, mainly as service costs are insane compared to Japanese bikes

@@Simon-df2ku yeah this bike is a bit on the expensive side. I have worked on a few bmw 800s and they are ridiculous for parts. I have been looking at the fuel injected husky. It has oil injection so you don't have to mix fuel. Plus if you run low you can bum fuel from a 4 stroke guy without problem. I rode the tiger up to glacier national park this year and it was fantastic. I crossed a few national forest to get off the blacktop. So its really hard to say what Im going to do. Maybe just get a third bike lol.

Flatcap007 the A/T is a nice bike. I have yet to ride one but if I could add one thing it would be cruise control.
