Your solution worked for me. It took a bit! I have the node 100 B - DC solenoid. The plunger was very stiff. I had to move it in and out manually quite a bit. I used a spray cleaner also. Now it is working very well. Now it makes quite a snappy sound when turning on and off (before it sounded weak, almost inaudible). Thanks for your comment! Now to fix the leaking housing 😅

Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. If the solenoid was not assembled when you took it apart then I would think it's not going to function properly. But in any case, manually turning the solenoid counterclockwise it should allow the valve to open. There is also a chance that the exhaust ports within the irrigation valve are clogged. This would require you to clean the ports in the valve.

Yes, the DC latching solenoid only sends a momentary pulse to operate. Same problem for me! Bleed screw is supposed to discharge water on top of the valve. That is not faulty. Did you try cleaning the port in this video?

Hunter valves all have an arrow to indicate the direction of flow. You're correct that it's important to install it in the correct direction.

Just programmed a different runtime and start time (B) to see if it does the same.

@@Hunter_Industries well it wasn't scheduling conflict it seems. So what if the valve actually actuates, the sprinkler comes up but then immediately goes down again? According to the node the zone is on. I can hear it actuate both on and off. Could it be the exhaust being clogged?

If your controller is displaying a station running but a valve not activating is most likely an indication of a problem at the irrigation valve or wiring to the valve. The most common reasons could be a either wire connection, broken wire, or a non-functional solenoid at the valve. This would require you to clean the ports in the valve. If the controller is producing the proper voltage at the wire connection of the irrigation valve, we would then recommend replacing the solenoid.

ORRRR... you are using a 24v ac solenoid on a 18v dc system lol

Good question about compatibility. The HPV is a discontinued valve and the parts for valves we make now are not compatible with it. If a part breaks on your HPV valve, unfortunately, you have to replace the whole valve. You can replace the HPV with a PGV though. Hi. Something similar happened to me: A sprinkler was not tightly screwed and it was leaking where it connects to the pipe. Had to dig, unscrew, clean and rescrew. Hope that makes sense.

@@alcantar06 Did that one sprinkler affect all your sprinklers or was the issue only for that particular one? asking since none of mine are working !

Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. An irrigation valve that is not closing is most likely the result of debris in the valve. Small debris that may get stuck in the valve may cause the diaphragm not to seat properly resulting in a valve that stays open. Check that the solenoid and bleeder screws are tightened down.

@@Hunter_Industries Thanks so are you suggesting I open the 4 screws and clean out debris in the diaphragm seat? That’s painful to do in the field… I would have to remove the entire contraption being it in the garage, clean it, and put back on. May as well replace the $25 part. Wish there was a flush feature to clean it out with water pressure. Pls consider as a design enhancement.

Hunter Irrigation thanks for the info and reply back. I actually checked with multimeter and also did it with 3 - 9v batteries and nothing. It’s strange that is the first time. I took them back and got my money back. But thought it was strange and figured I would ask
