I wouldn't say well done! You NEVER put main bearings in dry, same with rod bearings. They put the main bearing caps on without lube on the bearings, which will cause premature bearing failure, not to mention they never followed a torque sequence for the crankshaft. You NEVER tighten any bolts from the ends first, always start in the middle & work out! That goes for crankshaft, heads, valve covers & oil pan! Sure they got the job done, but it was NOT "well done"!

@@ronalddaub7965 you need more than just the bottom bearing done, besides on a rebuild it's best to use assembly lube, it stays on the bearings, & you never want a dry initial start-up after an overhaul. Oil is good after the engine is running, but its best to use a lubricant that sticks to surfaces for initial start-up, after an engine has been rebuilt. They didn't torque anything, which isn't good either.

They may not have access to all the lubricant you have , but likely there skill and bad habits have been handed down , there no school to go to , you start working as a young kid for you father and grandfather.

You think that was amazing? They slapped that engine together without regards to cleanliness, they never lubricated the crankshaft main bearings, or the rod bearings, they didn't torque the main bearing caps, or the rod bearings. That engine is going to fail prematurely because it was assembled without lubrication, & was never torqued. An overhaul on a truck engine takes a good mechanic close to a week, when its done CORRECT! These guys cut so many corners, they didn't lubricate anything going back together, then the tightening sequence on the main caps was just horrible! Never work from the ends, always tighten from the middle out & torque the bolts! Who knows how long that engine will last, but you can bet on one thing, it will be a miracle if it lasts longer than a year or two.

It is old, low HP per liter engine - it will work fine. However try to do it with the modern one - it will be destroyed in no time.

It's not enough to matter on a bearing that size.

This engine's already 150 hp with a 650 nm torque Cummins engine. For a big 10 wheeler, it must have a torque of 1000 nm for good performance.

Right? These engines will just be shitty after the rebuild... They are doin it on a dusty road and tightening the screws to their own satisfaction... Are these engines some kind of toy?
