I use this knot all the time camping as well securing loads on a vehicle or trailer.

An unrequested suggestion: taking a turn around before tying off will resist downward thrust.

Doing this method, the loop knot can become very tight. Making it very difficult to undo. At the point of the knot the chord has become weaker due to the tightness of the knot. There is another way my father used. As a trucker in England virtually all his life.
