It's day four of Drag Week and we are completely exhausted, and it's starting to take its toll on my driving. I made some dumb mistakes and we almost lost the overall lead at Cordova Raceway (results are below). Sick Seconds 2.0 might be the world's quickest street car when everything goes right, but that kind performance doesn't come without trade offs. Steve Morris from @stevemorrisracing and the creator of the SMX engine explains that some more in this video.
Everyone is having a tough week by this stage. In this video, you'll see Alex Taylor @RidingWithAlexTaylor having a really tough day, and the fact is we are all pushing these machines to the limit. A seven-second average is still a monumentally difficult task - there are only five teams with seven-second or better averages at Drag Week so far!
Michael Westberg and the Swedes have great number for the week, but that hides the true story of their efforts. They had a trailer jackknife and even hit a racoon on the drive, causing problems. Those random events can fatigue you, and cause mistakes and that's what people don't understand about drag and drive events like Drag Week, Sick Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week or Midwest Drags. The human element is pushed to the limit, we don't all come into this fresh and rested every day.
Make sure you watch us on the Hot Rod Drag Week 2022 live stream for day five!
