This is so grown up! I love it; strangely addictive. I didn't have any powdered sugar, so I rolled them in black poppy seeds. I also added a hint of cardamom along with the rosewater. VERY yummy, Titli-of course! The Afghan pudding made crave some natilla, so I'm making that also for this week's deserts!

I've made takoua, and I regret already that I decided to make a half of what the recipe suggests! Taking into account how ludicrously simple (and quite cheap) it is, and at the same time quite unusual and exotic for where I live, it is a keeper!

***** the whole region is a beautiful mix of Arabic, french and Africa culture. It's common knowledge. Tunisians are still identified as part on tbe the middle east/ North African diaspora. So chill out and stop trying to act 'smart'

***** of course Tunisia is in North Africa geographically but culturally are you Arabic? Is they the food you eat, music you listen too, soap opera shows you watch African or culturally Arabic? That's all I'm trying to say. You are part of the middle eastern diaspora- in the REGION of the middle east. As is Morocco, Egypt, Algeria ... you get my point. Although each country in the diaspora is unique and different- it still has connected culturally. Anyway, no offense taken on my part. Hope there was none on yours either.

***** I think you'll find that Egypt is considered to be part of Africa. FIFA certainly thinks so.

Hey Titli, first off I love your channels and all your recipes. Quick question: Orange water is either really expensive or difficult to find here in the States. I wanted to know if you would recommend that I use orange zest and the juice of the same orange in place of orange water. Sends love from America :)

Orange Blossom Water? Rose Water? Is there a way to make these "waters" because I'll never find those in my grocery stores? They sure do look great though.
@CologneCarter9 жыл бұрын
It's possible to make those waters at home. There are how to videos on KZfaq. But you need to get your hands on bag of fresh, aromatic and pesticide free petals. And the could be a problem, depending on where you live. Roses from a florist shop won't do, they are treated with pesticides. And I certainly wouldn't try roses near streets with a lot traffic. The pollution might not only be on the surface.

You could try to look for rose water in cosmetics shops (the one they use in cosmetics is the same one that is used in food), or in ethnic shops. I buy rose water in an Indian shop nearby. Finally, there's always Ebay. (And I don't know about orange water, but yes, rose water is great and totally worth it, and it's one of the best condiments I've tried recently.)

Thaneii I've just made this dish with rose water and I can say that if you have trouble finding either of these, feel free to use just water. While rose water adds a little to the taste and smell, it's a bonus, sesame still dominates both, and is the main point of the dish.
