I just bought a UDIRC 1603 and it's fun but it cogs, annoyingly. I thought there was something wrong with my car. Thanks for your vid, I'm on the fence whether I want to throw that motor in. I'm a newb to drift, coming from the super reliable RTR HBX family. So it kinda grinds me that I gotta piss around with this 1603 already. But cheers anyway man, thanks for the vid.

Yea it sucks but that motor will fix the problem and it's cheaper then replacing everything like everyone else says to do.

I have a flysky gt5 transmitter and receiver s coming so I'm happy look at getting a good esc to run this motor I not sure which esc to get .. maybe it need be programmable ?? The transmitter will have options to control throttle curve etc tho

you have a link for the red parts on the second rc you had shown? I bought the same set (but assume made by someone else) but they catch and grind on the wheels, as well as binding the from of the car. I had to take both pairs off of mine and it fixed everything.

It depends if u talking lithium ion or lipo .. the ions are just 2 x 18650 cells I believe so 1500 is same size as 1200 or even 2000 .. but beware fake battery .. I'm not sure if u have a lipo charger or not with the car but all decent batteries should have dimensions so measure and compare. Just make sure if u yo for lipo they are 2s not 1s or 3s .. 7.4 volts is what u need to use

Ok well I just ordered 2040 3200, 2040 3900 , 2040 4480 1x 35 amp speed control .. it says motor can handle 3s so these motors were so cheap on ali express about $8 each !! I just happen to have couple 3s battery I have never used ... unfortunate thing for me I might need order another car hmmmm what will i do with spare parts ?? The 3200 kv you used was probably a good choice the 3900 one might do better in with a better esc .. or if the timing was advanced on esc (duno if u can on the stock one) or maybe on 3s but dont think the stock esc will handle 3s ..

Hey ! was wondering, the one that you have all metal steering cup upper lower swing arm set does the direction block when you fully turn one way sometimes ?? if you had this prob and fix it what did u done to it ?

You need to add a little more positive or toe out by adding adjustable toe links. This will keep them from getting stuck. Watch the two videos below. First video shows the first version I made, the second short video shows the final product and there is a link in the description to the turn buckle. im on the fence between going brushless with this motor, or upgrading my brushed setup with a traxxas 380. mostly interested in drifting, what do you recommend since you have both

For drifting definitely go with the traxxas 380 for sure! The only negative is you loose a little distance with the transmitter sometimes. So go traxxas 380, if you want to make it even better you can get a new dumborc transmitter and a hobbywing 1625 brushed esc later on down the road and that will clear up any distance issue with the 380 upgrade. But just start with the 380, I also highly recommend going to a zee 1500 2s 60c battery.

Hi, is there any way by which i can remove the cogging without changing the motor or anything? Because i ordered the UD1604 brushed with 3 batteries . But what showed up was a brushless with 2 batteries. Also the body of the car was fully damaged. Can i fit a 56mm suspension in the car? Because i still didnt get the car. The was shipped to my dad who is on another country

No, the car will cogg. I tried everything. If you're using it as a normal RC car it's not that bad but if you want it for drifting then it's terrible. Even after you change the motor to the one I suggested the throttle response is not quite as good as the brushed, this makes it very hard to get really good at drifting. Sorry, they sent the brushless one. Very frustrating. I got a car that was damaged once. Got them to send me 80% of the money back and I got to keep the damaged car. I took the money and bought another one then I had a spare parts car. You could try that. They might send some money back and you could try to sell the brushless stuff from the one they sent to make up for the difference. Then keep the rest for backup parts. The sellers will typically work with you. You just have to be patient and jump through hoops.

If you just ordered the brushless SG 1603 set you don't want to run over 2s lipo.

yea the motor and speed control will not handle 3s let alone 4s !! if u wanted 3s 4s you should not ordered the upgrade but a new receiver servo speed control and motor that can handle 3s or 4s ... the car is pretty much too small for that much power

@@roblapouple7552 I 100% agree with Rob, that little motor I put on still feels a tiny bit overpowered on brushless 2s with the weak stock esc, that said it's exactly what I wanted, the car feels fast fun and controllable with the little 2040 surpass motor. I will be turning it into a white rally soon with the rally tires. I think it will be perfect.

Hey how's it going man I just wondering if I could ask you a question I have scoured everywhere and I cannot get a specific answer on the truck drift one with the brushless motor on the ESC where that steering servo plug is there is an additional 4 pin plug right above that could you please tell me what that extra plug is for can you plug a s Circle in for rear steering I would really appreciate that knowledge thank you

Well it's for a non brushless motor if I plug my Servo into it and it kind of ripped it up for a split second but that's what it is but thanks anyway man I appreciate you getting back to me.

@@jcstnn13 it's likely the esc then, sorry I have not had any issues with my brushed ones. A great upgrade setup is a lobbying 1625 esc, Traxxas 18-t brushed motor, and a dumborc transmitter and receiver. It makes a ton of smooth torque for drifting and will surprise you on a 2s lipo. @@outerzonerc777 Well I think that's the real reason because I have two of those cars since I pretty much identical one of them's brushless one of them is brushed they're the new . So I guess another question if you might not mind thinking about it if you can answer it preciate it so I have both of these cars so I have two front end steering but I want to put the other steering one in the rear of my brushless to make it four wheel steering maybe you could guide me in that direction because I have to controllers to ESC is I have everything I need I just need a point in the right direction thanks again man.

With the cogging issue would it be not as worse using the stock extra li po battery instead of the li ion

Lipo have less internal resistance so it maintains voltage better and delivers more current. Current create torque. These cars are geared to high for the stock motor/esc combo. Lower kV motors creates more torque with everything else beeing equal. The lower kV the higher resistance so max power will be lower. So a a higher kV with more down gearing will be more efficient and powerful. But if either the battery or esc can't deliver more current for some reason cogging appears in a brushless system. Chasing that perfect balance is always a challenge, even more so with brushless setups. So if you could put on a smaller pinion that would also help with the cogging, but choosing a smaller motor with correct kV lowers the stress on the esc and motor the most.

No the motor I used had 3 different nm otor mount positions. One of them fit dead on perfect. Perfect gear mesh.

No, I did not change the pinion. The pinion is stock. The motor has been changed to a 2040 surpass hobby.

I got no idea why then 🤔 cos I was bit confused u put smaller motor in then up the gear ratio !! I mean with more torque maybe ... But interesting I thought because you had gone down in kv you wanted go up in gearing ... I see that 2040 3200iv can handle 3 s no prob maybe even 4 .. but I doubt the stock ESC will.

Tried it, Racers edge, cleaned it up like 10% did that before I got the 2040 motor. I have a new set up in the mail. Ditching the stock esc. That motor fixes the problem 95% but want more powa

I highly recommend the tsky or T-Rex esc (both the same different names) but considering you said you ordered extensions I'm guessing you don't solder. I've started so many arguments by saying this but the tsky will handle upto 6s if you know your brushless math, if not you let the smoke out.

I do solder, got a hakko a few months back, I was trying to find a way to fix the problem for people that are not super technical in the RC crowd. I just ordered a 35amp sec and 2445 surpass setup for one of my cars. Wish I would have saw this a week ago haha. Could you drop a link to the exact esc your talking about? Appreciate you.
