Just gotta say i really enjoy how fast and consistant the tutorials are. No dilly-dally, just a quick intro on what to you'll tackle and the end result and then just gets on with it. full props

This is such an excellent tutorial series. Fast, logical, efficient, and the functionality is great too. Nice work bro. This should get some traction. Maybe post a link to it on Reddit? I think it would be well appreciated.

Thank you for all of these tutorials, they really help a lot. You explain them perfectly and straight to the point - and that accent is cool. :)

Excellent tutorials. Easy to follow. I'm doing it on Unreal Engine 5.2 and it is working fine. I would recommend them for anyone new to Unreal Engine or who wants to learn how to create building parts that snap together. I'm also learning a lot about the engine as I go through them. I'm up through video 13 in this series and plan to finish them all.

Very good tutorial so far. I am making a real time strategy game but I also wanted a building system. I liked yours the best and your system is easy for me to convert to a top down mouse controlled player controller instead of the third person controller. Now I can drag the mouse and place objects and snap them in within a totally different genre with controls thank you.

Hi Bro, love your tutorials, super great stuff here. I'm curious how you might go about handling walls so they have similar functionality to what they can do in the game Valheim. In that game, when you select a wall to build it, it snaps to the edge of the last wall. You can then use the scroll wheel to rotate it to different angles. That's all pretty easy to do with what you have here, but what I can't figure out is how one would get the wall to pivot on the corner like it does in Valheim, instead of in the middle. It's not just a simple matter of moving the pivot on the build piece, because in Valheim it will snap at either edge, and then pivot from that edge. I'd love to get your thoughts on how one might replicate this - or better yet see a video on it? :) Thanks for your time.

I enjoy your tutorials. Just one question, how do I get the material to change with the mesh? My mesh changes to the wall with door, and wall with window, but the material doesn't change with it. It uses the original material for the normal wall. I have gone back and started again from the first video and still the same issue. Did I miss something somewhere to change the material with the mesh when using the wall with door or window?

Remove the Ambient Occlusion texture from the Materials, that will fix it

@@xdragon5502 Thanks for the info. I haven't worked on the building system for quite some time now, so I am not sure if I managed to get it fixed. If not, I will definitely try this.

8:00 is it performance friendly when each block in the world is "movable"?

Heey i know you mentioned at some point but i forgot where , i have that problem when i put few foundation pieces and they start to shrink on z , if someone knows please help otherwise i will eventialy solve it myslef but in few good hours of burning coal :))

Up to 12:30 I don't think I missed something but maybe I did. At this point it's only letting you place the walls where we set up the boxes on the foundation but for me it snaps to it but if I look at it the right way it's letting me place them outside of the boxes as well. Is it supposed to still be doing that at this stage or did I do something wrong?
@ItsMeBro2 жыл бұрын
At this point all the buildables can be placed where ever. As long as the trace hits something, it can be placed there.

@@ItsMeBro Ah thanks for the quick response, your videos are great. I figured as much but wanted to make sure. I'll be looking for your next video in the series for sure.

So why would we do the wall/door/window like that, instead of doing it similarly to the original wall? Like adding it to a database, creating new blueprints in the Buildables folder alongside the wall/foundation/floor?
@_Zemlya2 ай бұрын
Because this blueprints in Buildables folder is just a types of blocks. You do not need to create a new type for an each new block separately. Just create master blueprint and edit it's mesh, if this meshes are similar

I dont know why and I cant figure it out but when i place the door or the window the textures stay the same as the wall texture instead of the window or door. How can I fix this?

Why snapped my Wall in the Middle of Foundation and not trough the Hole Found, where i set my Boxes for the wall. The Pivot Point from all are centered

Does the collisions added to the sections add anything to performance? I didnt really like adding all those so I just did it by getting the object hit and snapping it that way. Much harder but I think it works pretty well now, after several days of debugging and trial and error 😄.

@@static2601 how do you walk thru the doors without a custom collision?

@@ItsMeBro oops i posted under someones comment, but I was talking about the collisions used for the trace channels. Of course you need those collisions as well.

hey man your intro doesnt make sense. you can only have one branch off the begin event block.... disliked and unsubbed... thats not cool man...
