3 жыл бұрынThe year is 1948. The war for Europe is going well... For the Germans.
So far the treaty with Russia has held, though it is shaky at times. The Americans have thus far stayed out of the european theatre aside from supplying the only remaining unoccupied lands; the steadfast United Kingdom, and recently liberated France.
Though they're turning the tide in the pacific. The Japanese are in need of great assistance however as the Americans have been steadily rolling them back.
As such, germany has assembled a small fleet of elite ships, centered on one of germany's greatest designed battleships: the Großte Zorn, and led by one of germany's greatest admirals.
The Großte Zorn is a massive battleship designed in 1945 with heavy armor, a large number of smaller main guns, and a massive secondary battery designed for brawling. The ship is escorted by 5 heavy cruisers and a trio of destroyers.
However, as of 1947, Australia has expanded it's territory to include Borneo, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and has a blockade in the area to prevent ships from passing, and to prevent the territory from being captured.
And as the German task force was passing through the makassar straight, they were intercepted by a consolidated Australian fleet consisting of 3 battlecruisers, 6 heavy cruisers 4 light cruisers, and 8 destroyers. In order to break through and turn the tide for the Japanese, the Germans must first defeat the Australian blockade

Double s was actually what we have been using till they reformed it. So it is actually not wrong to write Grösster instead of Größter PS: at 11:08 you spoke it perfectly. Just without the r but this is KZfaq and not school 👍

Additional: In the normal speach, the word "Zorn" is male ergo "Größter" would be the right form, but since its a ship, "Größte" (female form) is also fine.

08:54, the first variant is correct. (The spelling "Großte" is wrong, it needs to be "Größte". For no-umlaut-o the second variant would be correct.) Lots more background at The grapheme 'ß' is called an "eszett", literally the German pronunciation of the letters 's' and 'z' ("es" and "zett"). It's also known as "scharfes S" (sharp 's'). It"s less than a letter, as it has no place in the alphabetical order (where it is replaced by 'ss' for sorting), but more than a ligature as it transmits phonological information and it's use is defined by orthographical rules. A ligature of e.g. _ff_ or _fft_ is just a more eye-pleasing, visual pulling-together of the 2 or 3 separate letters. For a lot more, see here: As to the transliteration of _ö_ as _oe_ and _Ö_ as _Oe_ and the same for Ü/ü and Ä/ä has historical precedence; this is doubly true for _ß_ as _ss._ Tthere is no 'ẞ' (upper case ß), you use "SS" instead. What are you talking about? Since 1901, when the German language was standardized, it was always groß and any declined forms of that with an eszett. It's not a short vowel sound but a long one. You can say about the 1996 reform what you want the the rules regarding ss/ß were a massive improvement. They would use "Grösster" in Switzerland because since the 1930s they refuse to use the eszett, making the language less precise.

I noticed something strange: the ships are always named according to their respective nation. For example "Erzherzog Frederick Max" or for a German one or "Hawke" for a British one. Why is the German CA called "Rhineland" and not "Rheinland"? The Germans wouldn't have used an English word to name their ship after the German region of the Rheinland.

To be fair: Naming the largest Battleship to ever ssail under the German flag "Größter Zorn" (Greatest Rage) is also a little untypical. German Battleships were generally named either after Provinces, cities, notable persons of German, particularily Prussian History or after Royal Houses.

i did this mission just for fun too and not gonna lie my bb ate about 60 torps downing it to 40% struct and 65% floatability. good that i gave it the maximum of torpedo resistance mods as well as you did.

If I am correct the extended barbette on the b turret was just extra mass, it allows the b turret to fire forwards but blocks c turret, without it the ship would be lighter and while b turret would be blocked by a turret, c turret would have a clear line of fire

the key binding for the ß is alt + 0223 then release alt and the special ß will appear. for it to work you have to use the number pad, not the numbers at the top of the keyboard.

That's actually what I have in mind for the follow up idea, if he were to go for it. I'm thinking that a concentrated american push of much more numerous, and technologically equal fleet. I'm thinking 3 iowa class an experimental montana class, and both the north Carolina class battleships with a large escort fleet of dds cas and cls. Scenario is as follows x number of american must be destroyed in order for the Japanese to push and suppo the Germans, I'm think x number of bbs and x number of battle cruisers or heavy cruisers, but it must be done in x amount of time or the american carrier fleet that had lagged behind would come into range and pound the German fleet to the bottom of th sea

Can you put casemate guns on the tower mounts? Maybe be able to add more firepower that way. IDK if you can just a thought. Some of thise spots you seem you can't put normal guns on them.

Those Towers doesn´t have slots for that since casemates weren´t used in modern battleships/battlecruiser.

are there dots above the vowel you are looking at in German? if so its a hard and short vowel. if not its a long vowel.

No, every umlaut can be either a short or a long vowel sound. In German the combination of consonants and vowels following a vowel sound signify if the vowel sound is short or long. If they are followed by an eszett (ß), it is always a long sound. Example "Rühren" (long vowel), "Büffel" (short), "Küssen" (short), "Büßen" (long).

This was a good design, but there is ome thing bothering me. You could have used a standard superimposed barbette at the front and that would have enabled the rearmost forward gun on the tower barbette a clear arc of fire forward.

so, "grosste Zorn" doesnt exist^^ it's either "grosser Zorn" or "der grosse Zorn" wich would be with "oh". (you say "der grosse Kurfürst" or "grosser Kurfürst") It could be "der grösste Zorn" also, wich is pronounced "ö = 'ea' rly". Kind of. Now, if you don't have these "ö, ä ,ü" on your Keys you can always use "ö = oe , ä = ae , ü = ue" -> grosser Kurfuerst "ä = 'ai' r" and "ü..." well i guess ü doesnt rly exist in english. Maybe in dutch but i dont know dutch :D Greetings PS. as you can see i'm not native german aswell. Neither english xD

When you are evading torpedoes how come you don't slow down your ships before you turn. like that video of the torpedo going under your destroyer you screen shot. if you slow down to full3/4 speed you reduce turning circle and the hit flank speed (diesels provide this advantage from quicker accelleration)

@@vermas4654, gute Frage. Soweit ich weiß, standen die Namen der Schiffe der Kriegsmarine nicht auf der Hülle und wenn, dann hätte man Versalien benutzt. Da es seinerzeit noch kein großes Eszett gab, hätte man GRÖSSTER ZORN geschrieben. Aber auch wenn Eigennamen nicht zwingend orthographischen Regeln folgen müssen, wäre offiziell sicherlich die Standard-Rechtschreibung mit dem ß verwendet worden.

i guess it was supposed to be "Größter Zorn", you can write the "ä" as an "ae" and an double s instead of "ß" is okay, it would simply be an old way of spelling it ^^

What do you mean by old way? Older than 1901 certainly but after that "groß" was always spelled with an eszett.
