The fact that ol' Jimbo was willing to be that creepy *in front of a bunch of cameras* makes me think that there was definitely worse stuff going on at that restaurant, and you just know that every skeevy hooters manager watched that episode and went "oh cool, I can sexually degrade women and get nothing but a slap on the wrist from the CEO, so I'm just gonna keep being an absolute stinking greasetrap of a human being."

I knew a girl who worked there around 2008. They told her she 'had the privilege' to compete in a Hooters bikini contest BUT that she'd need to buy new bikinis, would not get paid unless she won AND would have to take off work. She politely declined and they did everything they could to hound her at work for tiny infractions and fired her a month later. She was a super sex positive person who even liked the outfits and they still managed to go to far with her. I hate Hooters so much.

a lot of s*xual assault awareness (from a certain angle) is phrased as “she’s someone’s daughter” or “she’s someone’s mom/sister/wife.” yet she is her own whole person too with her own rights regardless. it’s like the woman herself isn’t centered as an individual, but respecting a woman/girl is transactional depending on how important she is to other people. very weird.

I am a Grammy Boomer, and a satisfied resident of Kurtistown. I never feel undervalued as a senior citizen in a town of bright young people. I will bake for all residents of Kurtistown, and fill each baked good with all the Grammy love I can conjure. I recommend the Kurtistown lifestyle to all of my friends.✌️ EDIT: I am just overwhelmed. Thank you all so much. I have been reading all of your comments, and I promise that you all have touched my heart. I have read comments that made me laugh, and I have read comments that made me cry, and I have read comments that broke my heart. I am sorry from the bottom of my heart that some of you have lost your own Grammys, whether due to passing away, or your grandparents have turned away from you because they refuse to accept you for who you are in your soul. I just want to give all of you a big old Grammy hug. 🤟 Now, as for baking, I think that chocolate chip cookies have been requested by the majority! So, I will make a big batch of those first. There are two types of people with regards to chocolate chip cookies. There are nutty people, and there are no-nut people. I will make both types, so as to accommodate everyone in town! As for pies, I can make any type of pie, and I make a kick-ass flaky pie crust, and a mean meringue! Thank you again for all the love that you have sent my way. I love you too!💝💖💐🤟 P.S. I am sixty (still young enough), but in spite of all the lifetimes lived throughout my six decades, I am still 17 inside!

the fact they fired Jessica... a way-overqualified woman who does her job well whose only indiscretion was wearing a shirt... with one DAY's notice after she literally said she needs her job to pay the bills... unreal I hope they gave her a FAT severance package after that. Edit: I don’t think the restaurant offers everyone they fire a severance check, I’m assuming the TV production company offered her a substantial amount to prevent her from suing the restaurant/tv studio because clearly she was fired unfairly and definitely would’ve had a case, especially after her episode aired on tv. It's the fact that male executives decided they would only hire women if they would dress in a sexualized manner and subject themselves to being sexualized at work by both customers AND BOSSES (?) without protecting themselves. The episodes I’ve seen previously were basically like, “Wow, I couldn’t believe how horrible the working conditions were. I could never do that seriously, especially considering all these people doing those jobs are so poor. Real sweet of them to work so hard for me at this minimum wage job when they’ve got these significant presumably-unrelated money issues going on. I’m going to give this one employee who I interacted with directly and liked a holiday because I’m such a generous and good guy.” Though to be fair, normally when they express not liking their job the CEO acts like he cares about making the job more likeable. I’m sure it’s just for the cameras, but they definitely didn’t fire them on camera.

an annoying thing that doesn’t get talked about enough: women are expected to appear “presentable” (aka done up) esp in jobs like this but their place of work never compensates them for things like getting their hair, nails, & hair removal done regularly which can be very expensive and time consuming. there’s also the cost of buying makeup and fake tanning. I know people are also going to say men are expected to look “presentable” but the standards and cost in terms of money and time are way different and it’s just never mentioned.… it’s messed up.

I’m a female and I’ve never even thought about this but holy shit you’re so right. I work in a clothing retail store as a manager. Our dress code is pretty lax (changed recently due to covid which meant our product went more “cozy casual”). Basically wear to sell while still looking presentable and not like you just got out of bed. Since it’s clothing, you’re mostly expected to wear current product or similar product (could be from a year or two ago). I’ve had to buy different shirts because my graphic tee isn’t sold by the company or it was a little too short when I’d lift my arms (to fold clothing, nothing weird). Meanwhile I’ve had male coworkers show up in sweatsuits and have never even been talked to about their outfit despite knowing the policies.

I've got news for you... most CEOs did not work all that hard to get where they are today. They're like this guy. They got there because they already have money and already have connections. Do some of them work hard? Sure. But that's not what got them there. People working three jobs to try to afford their rent worker harder and most aren't ever going to rise beyond that.

I am literally so angry. Jimbo is disgusting. “Evaluating” those women’s appearances just so he can check them out and comment on it and call it “doing his job”. The beans eating thing made me very uncomfortable. Whether it was the power dynamic that gets him off or the fact that he’s forcing women to lick a plate clean that gets him off or both, it just made me very uncomfortable to watch. I CANNOT BELIEVE he didn’t get fired. “Apologize”… that’s it?! I’m willing to bet he went back to his job and changed NOTHING. He was probably still a sexist creep just more careful about getting caught. And then Doug… Doug is Jimbo if he was a CEO… they’re just both very disgusting. I’m like actually furious. I hope Jimbo is out there NOT harassing women, I hope he got fired from Hooters and he’s working in an all male job where he is in no contact with women. He doesn’t even deserve to LOOK at a woman. And I’m glad Doug’s shitty restaurant went out of business and I hope he also has no contact with women :) ALSO, I hope Jessica is doing FANTASTIC! I hope it wasn’t too hard for her to find another job and I hope her and her family are very happy right now :) :) :) as well as all the women from the hooters that had to deal with Jimbo’s BS. I hope he never laid a finger on them.

@alyssab9957

@Bob Watters just because there are women willingly working at these places doesn’t make those men’s attitudes any less disrespectful. treating those women as objects and talking to and about them in the way they did is NOT OK, even if the people they’re doing it to are ok with it. yes, the women are not being forced to work there, however, there probably aren’t as many job opportunities for them. It is also very possible that they have been taught and conditioned to think that that’s how they deserve to be treated. It’s fucking sick that there are men that think that way and arguing anything different is disgusting

That shit is always SO infuriating to me. We literally have to beg men to treat us like humans by centering THEIR feelings and *still* making it about their relationship to a woman, *and* making that woman a kind of owned object. "Oh, but imagine if it was your wife or your daughter or sister" or whatever else. So? Why do we have to position ourselves that way? You don't hear men begging women to make the same connection in reverse whenever something bad is going on with another guy. It's not like, "Oh, but imagine if it was your son/husband/brother/whatever." Know why? Because we see people as people and don't have to imagine them as people only in the sense of "belonging" to us in a personal relationship. It's gross, and I side-eye every single guy who can't comprehend why he should care about X topic until someone makes that argument.
