Unlocking the New Testament Part 15 - Ephesians

David Pawson says the best defense against heresy is solid, good teaching and that’s what Paul gave to the Ephesians via this letter, protecting them against false teaching. This teaching is the very foundation of Christian living. Ephesus was a key town in the history of the early church. A port city, it had an enormous temple to the goddess Diana. Silversmiths sold reproductions of a meteorite which had fallen to Ephesus, supposedly symbolising the goddess and Paul’s preaching had brought hostility from these silversmiths. His letter is in two clear halves, dealing with our relationship with God in Christ and our relationship with others in the Lord. David terms the first half Salvation worked in (doctrine - what we are saved by) and the 2nd, Salvation worked out (duty - what we are saved for). We are not saved by good deeds, but we are saved for good deeds. David says that a Gospel that doesn’t work out in life is not the full Gospel. We need both halves - and in the order presented because we cannot live the Christian life before we’ve been saved. Paul’s teaching is couched in a hymn of praise for God’s power and purpose. Our battles are not with flesh and blood. David beautifully explains predestination.

Excellent exposition by a great and godly man. I was bothered by predestination for a long time but how lucidly he explained it. Miss you Dr Pawson. Our loss is heaven's gain. Thank you Lord God.

I had a dream I was in heaven. It was awesomely good. Waking up was a real bad time. It was joy and peace greater than imaginable. Observing all of Christ's works. That he did through me. Glory! I just preached almost the same message as yours before seeing this message.

I absolutely love this man. I met him twice. One of the times was at Auschwitz in Poland where he spoke on what we owe to the Jewish people because we have their Messiah ❤ 🕊️

I feel God's perfect peace whenever I start thanking him. I have been wrong about many things. But God has patiently corrected. David Pawson was such an unusually clear and inspiring teacher-these lectures are truly blessings. (60000-90000 sq ft was the area of the temple.)

At 19:55 David Pawson recites a poem that says it is vanity to say 'I am the chief of sinners'. In 1 Tim 1:15 Saint Paul writes that he was the worst of sinners.

11:37 "you cannot live the christian life until you are saved." amen. and living the way of god is what keeps us saved. and the way of god is summed up in the ten commandments which jesus (and in deut 10:12; lev 19:9) sums up as loving god and neighbor.

36:03. amen. god created us to be with him in eternity-that is his intended destiny for man. what was pre-determined was the intension. but yes, we can refuse his offer. we read god telling his people to choose life. yes, we have the choice to accept or reject his offer.

Its good to read the Present with Religion, a book for free on the internet.The book is about the truth of life and it shows the full picture of life for the first time so that you may stop being deceived by the world and be able to follow the steps of Jesus and other prophets to Heaven.Knowing the truth is the key factor in our salvation.We must know the truth and live in it and change ourselves according to it in order to be saved.There is no other way to our salvation.With the knowlege of the truth there comes true repentance which means changing our minds and alao true obediance to God' s law and finally our sanctifucation which is a lifelong process.And God in His mercy will give us His wonderful grace which is the time ans ability to make the proper change.Only in this way will we be able to attain our efernal salvation.Our task is to find this narrow gate that leads to God and do it quickly and atay on it till the end no matter what.Then and only then we will be saved.There is nothing more important or serious to do in this fallen world as our eternal fate depends on it.

Ugh, I’ve found an area where David and I interpret scripture differently - predestination. I wish he were alive to have a conversation about God’s hidden and revealed will, and His omniscience.

That is just a man made doctrine brother. You won't come to that conclusion if you read the Bible without any human influence. And it's a contradiction to believe God has 2 will. One Will is going predestine one person to hell other Will want to save him. You should search for Soteriology101

I anticipate to know what Pawson's teaching is on elders, deacons and overseers are to be the husband of ONE WIFE. (Titus 1:6, 1 Tim 3: 2, 12) Can only marry once? Have to be a married man?

Why would any christian dwell on the word negro as if it is a scandalised word, I don't get it at all. People especially in american feel offended by this which makes me question their sanity because as a humble black girl living in Spain, people calling me morena annoys me because am not brown, am negra which means black just go learn spanish then you will understand so much better or you can ask for knowledge about colours from God because I have come to an understanding that these black people who hate the word negro not only hate their race but hate their ethnity and I pray that God gives love of yourselves.

I LOVE ALL OF THE TEACHINGS of David Pawson BUT there was something that bothered me on this video. The impression that he gave of a black man near the end of the sermon. He used kinda of crude accent along with a comment that was completely unnecessary for his message. Smh.

Don't be so sensitive you cowards. You were tempted by your wicked nature to an imagined judgement of anger towards a man for nothing, which means you think yourself God and are capable of making such judgements; judge not lest ye judged. So called blacks and whites, asians etc, ARE OFTEN culturally and characteristically different from each other; DEAL WITH IT before you find yourself too terrified to acknowledge that the differences are God made and they are to be celebrated in unity and peace. David was not a Calvinist - he was more Arminian David left the Methodist Movement because he could not prescribe to Calvins views

"Negro" is Spanish (and Portuguese) for the color black. Referring to someone as a "Negro" was the normal thing as was "black," and not considered by anyone as a derogatory term 30 years ago. There is another word that starts with "n" that is derogatory; modern culture tends to confuse the two terms since the second term was derived from the first.

Great exposition but with a poor ending because God will struggle with some longer than with others, knowing their end, and justification is immediate on believing in Christ and proceeding from there to follow Christ daily. Jacob was chosen before he was born. Also what God begins he will finish. But I remain united in Spirit with Pawson; if he is in error, it is as to be more careful, not less. God bless him.
