I first saw Performance Pins from a John Meadows (RIP) video years back. When John would share stuff, you knew it came from a sincere place. So for him to be excited about a little pin was something that had me. Jump forward a few years and I acquire our Inspire Fitness FT2 and the Performance Pins were at the top of my list to purchase for initial accessories.
We’ve used them for the past year and I’m ready to share my thoughts, pros and cons, of these nifty training tools, so you can decide if they are the right addition to your home gym or gym bag, or not!

I definitely see the value, especially for something where you’re using two stacks at the same time and facing away from the stacks. This is a classic example of something a lot of people will say is “unnecessary”, which is true, but it saves time. It also lets you focus on the exercise rather than on adjusting the machine. For something like leg extensions where your legs are likely toast, not having to stand up to adjust is probably more valuable than the time savings.

Nailed it. I wouldn't buy these for a lot of situations, but for some they work perfectly.

Definitely cool, just imagine training your 1 rep max in a 10 rep set.. Would it work?

If you had enough pins you could probably do it... You mean like, starting at 100%, then dropping down to say 90, then 80, etc?

Considering the real deal is under $40, I'd have a hard time personally justifying going through AliBaba (I've had bad experiences)... but I totally get saving a few bucks.

Sure, it's a spring wrapped around the pin on the inside, and the "lock" or "trigger" holds that in place. You need more than that? Let me know what you'd like to see

@@GrayMatterLifting do you have some sort of diagram on how it is made?

@@choppchopp9975 I do not. Are you looking for a better understanding of how it works? Or what?

@@GrayMatterLifting yeah I’m trying to understand how it works

@@choppchopp9975 I'm not the manufacturer, so I don't have a blueprint or anything... but the basic idea is the spring on the inside is wrapped around the pin that goes into your cable stack. As you pull the "trigger" back, it coils the spring so it has tension and is loaded. You lock the trigger in place, do your set. When you rest the stack, that piece unloads the tension in the spring and sends the pin flying. So... spring around a pin, locks in place, spring shoots the pin.

I just used these, broke 1, it's trash now. In think it needs a lot of modifications. I'll send them back tomorrow. I wouldn't recommend these, more intl the way

Did you buy these specific ones? Or the knock offs? We've been using ours for well over a year and no issues.
