In this video, I'm going to show you how to take the cardboard tokens that come in your Marvel Crisis Protocol box sets and DIY them into something a little more premium!
Materials:
Fine Grit Sandpaper (600)
Black Sharpie
Blue-tac
Board/Flat surface
Mod-Podge Matte
Mod-Podge Dimensional Magic
Brush
Tokens!

Nice tutorial! Have you tried a product called glossy accents? I believe that it works better to create that dome-like effect for the tokens and it cures more quickly. It self levels very well too. If you haven’t tried it, give it a shot.

Great way I've found to remove bubbles is to pass a small flame across the token while the Mod Podge is fresh. A long neck BBQ lighter works well for this.

I dont use mod podge just prefer a water based polyurethane usually. Im wondering if just a few coats of that would work. especially since they have an extra thick formula now.

I'd imagine any sort of varnish would work, as long as it dries clear! I don't know how the polyurethane would apply either, whether it's by brush applicator or some other means. If you can get a smooth non-streaky finish, go for it!

How did the water based PU go? I'm afraid that the water would mess with the cardboard...

Would mod podge hard coat do a similar job on the edges of tokens?

It would probably do a better job of sealing it. The sharpie on the edge is purely for black edging it; it's still porous because the cardboard is exposed. Mod Podge hard coat on the edges would protect a lot better and give a glossier finish for sure.

Any idea why sometimes they don't become transparent but the central part remain milky?

It could be too much of the Modge Podge on the surface, or it could also be too much moisture in the air. Combination of the two.

DO NOT DO THIS!! When stored together, the components will eventually stick together no matter how long you let them dry. The cardboard components will tear apart when you try to separate them. This destroyed 2 of my game's components.

I've had my tokens stored mashed together in a container for over a year now with zero issues. I would advise not storing the components anywhere near sunlight or heat maybe which might cause it to react/soften and then squish together?
