This is the greatest race in history... and there were so many things leading up to it. It featured 5 of the fastest men ever in Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Justin Gatlin, Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay. Olympic Story time with Justin this week is EPIC

Yea but in 2021 the wind was +0.1m/s and Jacobs ran a 9.80. And in 2023 the wind was 0.0m/s and Lyles ran a 9.83. The wind in London was +1.5m/s which makes a huge difference. Yea that race was probably one of the greatest 100m final but when adjusted for wind, both Jacobs and Lyles both ran time around what Blake did in London to win sliver. Still not good enough to compete with Bolt though.@@richardgallimore5976

I remember gatlin said that a bunch of sprinters quit when they saw what bolt did in 2008 Olympics and more quit again in 2009 championships. It's an act. He was the one leading the headlines going into Rio claiming that Usain got special treatment for being allowed to participate in the 2016 Olympics. A double doper allowed back on the tracks after a permanent suspension actually had the nerve to claim someone else got special attention. He can act all nice and decent in interviews but his actions have ALWAYS given away his true character. There's a reason he got booed in Rio.

I don’t think you guys know how big the 100 meter in London was, because of what bolt did in Beijing and his rise to literally a god that made sprinters scared of him. Everyone was tuned in to see if bolt can perhaps break the record or even win 4 years later. The fact that he was number 1 in the world of sprinting but got beat by yohan and disqualified also add to the doubts and anticipation. The London Olympics stadium energy was loud as hell, sprinting is extremely difficult to stay consistently good at most less win, because if your nervous you won’t execute your race in good form and spirit. Powell does well in diamond leagues when no other top sprinters in the race, he seems to falter in big races, if you look at some of his race he suddenly slows down for no reason and gets beaten. He claims he had no psychological issue but something was wrong with his mental Then the semi finals had guys causally dropping 9.8s and slowing down before the line. Gatlin said lebron, Kobe and all the other basket team ran into the stadium to see the race. Which just shows how anticipated it was. Bolt became even more ridiculously popular after that feat.

We're all athletes out there, and we get on a fast break, and we're trucking as fast as we can, and Justin comes FLYING past us, and the dude was f*cking jogging. I have been coaching for a long time and I love your objectivity regardless of where you hail from. Keep up the good work gentlemen. As for Justin Gatlin, you still hold a very special place in my heart because only Linford Christy has done what you have. The button change over in the 4x100m in both USA men and women’s teams have been the USA’s Achilles tendon. Granted, you can play with athletes in minor competitions but when it comes to the Worlds, let alone the Olympics, you don’t mess us up by trying with error methods. Usain absolutely took off. The 5 fastest man ever in that race and 3 of them pretty close to their peak form (you, Usain and Yohan Blake). Gay wasn't as fast as in 2009, otherwise I think he would have got 2nd place. BOLT is the reason why they are running so fast at that time. .Nowadays, you can't see that kind of time. .

Let’s not forget the Johnson Lewis final in 1988. I was there for both and have to say the ‘88 race was still the most iconic 100m of all time.

Love the guy regardless of History and I watch this race over and over again
