I still use a machete and hatchet depending on the job sometimes with the help of a hydraulic press. Although I have since moved on to the Estwing Rigger's Axe as my favorite splitting tool. It is a very thin blade hatchet with a hammer on the opposite site. I also use it to clean radiator ends using another hammer. Works amazingly well. I also cut the ends off of motors up to 50hp so far this way as I don't like the mess/dust a grinder or reciprocal saw makes.

Speaking of bumper jack handles, did you know you can change a tire with a bumper jack and handle? When I was young me, my wife, my friend and his girlfriend went to the " noon to moon jam" in Hugo. Live music at a camper park with a swimming pond from 12 to midnight. We woke up to a flat tire to the Dodge van. My friend said, no problem. We took the tire off, then on the engine end of the van we used the heel of the bumper jack to break the beads, liberated a tube from the swimming hole, rolled the tire int town and found a free air hose and made repair. To completely remove a tire you use bumper jack, pry tire off making sure the opposite side is in the middle of the rim, and tap it around with any hammer. Who would have thought a bumper jack and handle would remove a tire from a rim? It does!

You cad do it like that but I use the vise and a sawzall and shave the wire off one side then while it's still clamped in the vise pry wire out with a flat screwdriver or bumper jack handle. I actually walked out to my shop to get the proper name of the new blades I am using. I was using "Fire and rescue " blades but they have these new ones, Spyder, not only do they have teeth on top and bottom, the curve even has teeth. You know how a new blade cuts thru steel like a hot knife thru butter, well these spyder blades will keep on cutting after the hot knife thru butter stage fades, like three weeks after. I use my sawzall to cut the car tire beads so I don't have such a hard time getting tires off the rims for #1 steel, a Spyder blade will cut 8-10 tires off the rims, tire bead wire is spring steel, it's especially tough. Hatchets work good cutting the metal sides off window a/c's and those big home heating units, lots faster then Phillips screwdriver and 1/4 drive weather, a speaker magnet on a rope, you can drag it around to get up all the 1/4 head screws up so they won't get in your riding mower tires!

One day after I cash in a 60lb. bucket of transformers for >$10 I find this video 🤦🏻. At least I kept some of the larger ones.

@scrapitall200 . That's good to now as I usually stripped them by hand and then removed the tape as I have had that issue with the fine copper strands sticking to the tape.

@@MicroScraprMike that does happen to me, but I just use my ice pick to scrape the copper off, works really slick.

The right tool for the job. I like to save my machetes for machete things. My old hatchet will do the job.
